LOS ANGELES — The Fox television network is looking for a southeast Louisiana family affected by either hurricane Katrina or Rita to cast in the third season of “Trading Spouses,” a reality TV show in which two moms temporarily swap lives and families.

The show is looking for families "in whatever stage their family is in post-Katrina or Rita — whether that’s living in a FEMA trailer, still displaced or back in their homes," said Brooke Krinsky, casting associate for Rocket Science Laboratories, the producers of “Joe Millionaire,” “Temptation Island” and "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé" on the Fox Broadcasting Company Network. “We look for fun and unique families with eccentric lifestyles, eclectic backgrounds and an interesting family dynamic.”

Families on the show receive up to $50,000. Spouses must have children over the age of 6 with full custody. All family members must be residents and citizens of the United States. The deadline is July 21.

“The program provides the opportunity for families to share and enjoy radically different lifestyles to which they may never otherwise be exposed,” said Tyler Ramsey, Rocket Science Laboratories supervising casting producer. “This will be an experience every bit as rich and rewarding as that experienced by the hordes of tourists that travel to Venice, Italy or Paris, France.”

To apply, contact Krinsky at (323) 802-0584, or e-mail your contact information to brookek@rocketsciencelabs.com. To find out more about the show, visit http://www.fox.com.•

It's not a bad idea. It could be a good thing. This could show the viewers exactly how slow recovery is. Let those in another part of the country fit in a survivors shoe. See how hard it is to recover from losing everything or almost everything.

I have to agree with CajunMama. People in other places think everything is fine and dandy and that life is back to normal for those effected. They don't realize that things have not return to normal. It is kind of a situation until you been you don't know what life is like. The only thing is before they do this they should warn the other party going to these areas that life is rough!

Yeah, but its kinda unfair for the people devestated. Like what if a wife lost her husband in the hurricane and then suddenly this company asks the woman to be on T.V to be with another man. Think how that woman would feel.

HH...the people have to apply...it's not like they walk up to someone and say, "Hey...you wanna be on our show?" And if you read the article it mentions "spouses"

Actually, if she lost her husband, she wouldn't be on the show because there would be no spouse to trade. I'm sure they'll find their fair share of happily married couples who were victims of either storm and willing to experience the safe trade.

I don't even like the idea of a spouse trade......

Is that Blair Warner from the facts of Life as your avatar, GalvestonDuck?

LOL, yeah...I really need to change it (too much attitude in that look of hers, but she's so darn cute!)

I was watching the new FOL DVD's a few weeks back and decided to find an FOL avatar. There aren't many out there and ever fewer that I like.

I agree with CajunMama. It will be interesting. And who better to give $50,000?

I agree with Kathy as well. And good point Regit - I'm sure the $50,000 will help them rebuild their lives.
