Why is it that summer colds are always so freaking much worst then winter colds?? I am fighting a real nasty cold right now..
While I get sick more often in the winter, my summer time sicknesses are always worst for some reason.. go figure

Hey, they get you when they are ready. I had a cold a month ago that I couldn't get rid of. It is gone now. Get well soon. I don't think the season matters.

Maybe because the viruses and bacterias that cause these colds like warm weather more then cold weather. They might just grow better and die slower.

I think the heat has to do with it... the heat makes you miserable, and it increases the effects of the cold. The cold may not actually be worse, it's just that you feel worse.

It is strange these "bugs" in the summer months...being it peeps are outside more often...unlike in winter when staying in the house a whole lot more with re-circulated air.

There's been a sinus infection thingy going around Raleigh, too.

I agree that summer colds seem worse. I think it is the fact that they linger and it seems to take forever to get rid of them.

Summer colds are worse, the bacteria has all that heat to live off of. Hope you feel better soon!

I am thinking the same thing, they always seem worse in the summer. I think due to the heat. I had not one cold this winter for some odd reason, I was very thankful, and then BAM I get one this summer, which rarley happens to me. Yeah I hate summer colds. Hope you feel better soon Chad! :bday:

There are more people out in the summer too, vacations, beaches, malls, etc. to spread more colds.

Chad,

Get some Coldeeze drops. They are best used at the first symptoms of a cold but can help get rid of the one you have faster. :D Hope you feel better soon.

I think summer colds are the pits because we want to spend more time outside and our pace is just faster. In the winter the sun sets earlier and up here, it's cold. So staying in feels good. It doesn't feel good to rest when the wx is nice!

Hope you feel better Chad.

Now everyone listen to Mother Bre lol.
A couple of years ago I started a wash your hands campagin at my house. Told everyone to wash their hands at least 10 times a day. Also bought some of that hand stuff and put it all around the house and my office. Not many colds or sinus infections anymore.

And I never let anyone touch my keyboard at work or home or use my phone in my office. If they do I spray with Lysol. Those two places are the worst for spreading germs.

I also drink a glass of tomato juice every day not sure if that helps anything but hey it's vitamins

I think so as well. It's uncomfortable enough outside in the heat and humidity without a cold added to it.

Bre - very good advice. Wash, wash, wash your hands! When coming home from public places, before cooking, after using the bathroom (obvious). Years ago all 4 of us passed around a stomach/GI tract virus, for about 7 weeks. It just about drove me nuts, we had good days in between but one daughter had it twice. I put a bottle of antibacterial soap at every sink and we used paper towels to dry with. Not cloth. I also used the heat dry option on the dishwasher, to kill germs. Lysol for bathrooms and kitchen counters. I was on a mission. We would all walk in the door from say church, and line up to wash our hands. Right away. To this day, my kitchen sink is a busy spot. Just when I'm cooking and need it, someone is washing their hands there. That's my only complaint - it isn't the only sink in this house! But the first one you come to when you come home.

Once you're in that habit, you're set. Washing hands really does help. A school nurse told my daughters to wash for a full 30 seconds. Yep, they would stand there and count.....this was all long ago. LOL

Such a small thing but great advice and making it a habit can reap huge rewards.
And for those of us that have the nasty smoking habit, a double necessity because our hands are touching the cigarette and going near our mouth. Antibacterial lotion in purse or pocket is a great idea.

Wet Ones handwipes are nice to have for on-the-road cleanups, too, if one isn't near a restroom sink.
