BreinLA and i have started walking a mile every other night. Our old out of shape bodies just can't handle every night yet :P I bring one of my dogs with me. One night it will be Charlie the cairn terrier and the next night it will be Buster the poodle. I don't know who's more worn out....me & Bre or the dogs!

BTW Bre...Charlie is plopped down on the floor still panting!

That is great. We need to start walking. I am sure once you get used to it, you will feel more energy. Everyone I know says that walking really refreshes them.

My folks and I have a treadmill AND a recumbent bike...all 3 of us could use a heck of alot more exercise by actually using them MORE often. :)

We really need to get either a treadmill or a bike and start exercising more daily.

I try to walk my dogs, all three at the same time, every night. I only go about 1/2 mile because even at 7:00 it is still quite warm and humid here for them.

I walk everywhere.

I also bike every night, usually 1 or 2 kms. But, a lot I'll bike across the city, 6-10 kms... each way.

Walk - never! Running is the way to go, and over the summer I do PLENTY! Usually I'll do about 5 miles/day with longer runs (around 10 miles) on the weekends . . . but that's the summer training regimen of a high school runner for you! It's definately a workout, as I'm sure you can imagine . . .

I do walk to start if I'm particularly tight when I go out, so I guess never is a little white lie 8-)

My mom and my aunt walk every morning around the neighborhood starting around 6 a.m. I never can get my lazy butt out of bed that early. But, I do go to the gym almost every afternoon when I get off work.

ooo I love this topic. I walk minimally 9 miles per week... sometimes 13.5 miles...i do this on 3 days out of every week.
Each walk is a little over 4.5 miles that I do..and it takes between 70-80 minutes, because parts of this walk is uphill.
So that adds to the stamina that I have built up over the years.
Thats just the normal walks... but I do walk almost everywhere, since everything is in my neighborhood.

I simply love walking. Makes me feel so good, especially after I am all done. The summer humidity is hard for walking, but I still do it.

I swear that my feet are so tired after bouncing around my office, doing
nerve tests all day, ahhhh.....walk? ME?? I'm ashamed to say that, walking
around the lawn, watering flowers, is the extent of my after-work excercise.
And, if I had a treadmill or other equipment, yes - like Kathy - it would be
extra space to hang clothing! :P

We walk the dog each evening and she loves it.

I faithfully walked almost 3 miles a day on our treadmill, for almost 2 years in a row. It is addicting and you feel great when you walk. When I walked everyday I actually had more energy from walking than if I drank a cup of coffee. I didn't get drowsy late in the day (4 p.m ish) like I do if I don't exercise. And I slept better than I ever had in my life.

You may ask why I no longer walk? I got out of the habit and boy is it hard to start up again. And keep it going.

But more power to you if you can. It takes about 2 weeks for the benefits of daily exercise to kick in. Meaning - more energy! More than you can ever imagine.

Walking the dog doesn't count. She stops and sniffs too much. When I hit the treadmill, it's a steady pace. No shrubs to sniff near the treadmill! I have tried to restart this routine, many times. It's just so hard to start again, once you get in that habit of being lazy.

I should probably run since, well that AF fitness test thingy (its a requirement)... I leave my training to the elliptical machines. Working at a YMCA definitely helps a wee bit.
