Husband is doing okay~heart cath and surgery

I wrote a post about a week about my husband having blockage. This morning they did the heart cath and found three arteries blocked. One was 40% which they didn't do anything to. Another was 99% and they put a stent in. The other one was 100% blocked and they couldn't do anything. It turns out that David had a heart attack about 2 to 3 years ago and didn't even know it. His heart had been damage and the one artery was not able to be unblocked.
One might think this is bad but we are looking at it as a new chance on life now. He could had had a major heart attack at any time that would had killed him if they had not done this.
I left the hospital around 8:30 tonight. He had just started to let him sit up with the bed elevated. When I called tonight to check on him he was up walking. Woo hoo! He is supposed to come home tomorrow morning.
Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts. They were answered today!

Glad he is going better...
I have had a lot of family experience with this sad reality. I recently had a 3D coronary heartscan done, and they found one spot with some blockage. But it wouldn't become a noticeable issue for another 20+ years. So its giving me a chance to fix it.
Stay safe/healthy... i'll keep your husband and you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks everyone. He is coming home this morning sometime. I have to go get dress and go out to the hospital. When I called last night to check on him he was up and walking around the unit. Sounds like he is up and running again.
It was a scary moment realizing that I could had lost him. I think that was the hardest thing is knowing that he could had had a heart attack. Now thinking back I can almost pinpoint when he had at least one of the heart attacks they think he had. He had signs but we thought it was something else. I will continue to update but probably will not be on the computer much of the day. Maybe late tonight.

Wonderful news! I'm so glad you now know exactly what the situation is, no more wondering (and worrying) and can move on and concentrate on his healing.

Great news beachbum. I can understand how frightened you felt. Keep us posted and I would suggest he follow doctor's orders, faithfully - medications, diet, exercise - whatever the case may be. A former neighbor of ours has had 2 or 3 major heart attacks, several open heart surgeries, but when you see him, he looks to be the picture of health. He golfs, works out, eats right (absolutely fat free diet), is trim and fit (not overweight at all). I know of several neighbors closer to this couple and they'd worry something awful about him. But when I'd talk to him, I swear it was if I was talking to a fitness expert (he's in his late 60s now, maybe close to 70). If you mentioned his past attacks and surgeries, he'd dismiss your concern - oh that, I'm fine now! So maybe it's all of the above and keeping a positive attitude. He said he looks at it all like taking care of his car, etc. "I've gotta take care of the old ticker" I've heard him say. I love his attitude!
Well, there's a very positive story for you. Your husband sounds as if he has this positive outlook on life. That's very good to have in medical conditions like these.
Take care and again, please update us on how he's doing post-op wise.

Glad to hear he is doing better. Went thru a similar situation with my husband in April but luckily he didn't need any stents put in. Sending prayers from Florida.

Amazing the stuff they can do nowadays...I got so much artificial stuff in me I probably could be considered a cyborg..

Oh I bet you can't wait to get him home and baby him. Those stents are wonderful. So glad that he is on the mend. I'll continue to keep your family in my prayers. ((HUGS))

I'm so glad that everything went well. I'm sure that you were both surprised about the prior heart attack news, but at least you and the doctors are aware of what has happened and can treat your husband accordingly!
