Any old timers here remember these famous words? I sure do. Thirty seven years ago today they were spoken by Neil Armstrong as he became the first human to set foot on the moon.


BTW the astronauts trained at Nasa Langley..about 500 feet from where I now live.

Yes I did..as did everyone else in the world with a television. I would not have missed that for the world.

Yes I remeber the quote, one of my favirotes. Although I was not alive to see it, my dad told me the story many of times. And did you know that what Neil Armstrong was suppost to say was "That's one small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind." But flubbed it up in the excitment of the moment. I think it has more meaning the way it ended up coming out. I also think it is amazing how far space flight has come in these past 37 years.

NO friggin WAY Jose`!!! 37 YEARS..........I remember it JUST like it was YESTERDAY, I swear, it truly does seem like it was only a "few" years and I do mean a FEW years back.....can I REALLY be THAT old? Naaaaaaa! Now, the burning question, did they REALLY land on the moon or was it at Meteor Crater near Winslow

I WORKED at Langley AFB during the time they were training there and saw them come through the Weather Station from time to time when they would be flying back to Houston.

Steve I now live next to the speedway right across from the NASA main gate. Did you live on or off base?

I didn't see it on television - though my parents may have had it on. I think though that I was at my grandmother's house when I saw the lift off on television. I remember it was around my birthday and I was pretty young.

Stephanie i remember it was past my bedtime but i was allowed to stay up. My parents made popcorn..and me, my parents, and my disinterested cat sat in front of the TV and watched history in the making.

That's probably why I didn't see it. It was probably past my bedtime as well.

I'm an old timer - sure I remember it!!! Like it was yesterday. My friends and I were dancing to a Stones song, playing on a record player outside on someone's patio when several parents said to come inside, we shouldn't miss this.....glad I stopped dancing!

It was a wonderful memory. Back then, anything space related made people stop dead in their tracks. Seriously! That was the breaking news of the day, back then.

My dad used to tell me stories about that all the time.. Although I'm sure I would have been thrilled 2 see it..

I was only 6 years old.

My Dad was working 2nd shift at a chemical plant in Cincinnati and he remembers hearing those famous words by Neil Armstrong live on his radio.

Years later Neil took a professor position at the U. of Cincy.

I've been to the Armstrong Museum located in his hometown of Wapakoneta, OH.

I remember sitting on the carpet watching it. It was past my bedtime too but I told my mom I had to watch it for school

37 years

Now I really feel old.

Yeah, I was glued to the screen all day and evening. Walter Cronkite. What an awesome day ...

We (me & hubby) were just talking about this the other day. We both remember watching it. He said his dad went out and got a color tv - and of course it was in black and white!

I was only 2 at the time...

Now I REALLY feel old!
