My first week there and I am doing great. I learned how to use the tire changing machine, and I am doing cars by myself now. But most important, I feel stress free.

Walmart has changed as far as corporate goes. They made a change for the bad. Due to the changes they are actually encouraging theft.

But anyway, congrats LaPlace.

Changes encouraging theft...how?

They have changed how they run the cash offices. Also, the accounting dept. has been instructed to not even research cash shortages below 150.00. Cash registers can come up 20.00 short before the dept. manager has to take action. Anyone can operate someone else's register. Who are they going to be able to pinpoint for the shortage? I was told since this has taken affect and word got out alot of the registers have been anywhere from 12 to 17 dollars short.

They are also weeding out long time employees by capping their pay. So, a 25 year employee will no longer be able to get a raise. Sad, actually. They are getting rid of long term management and replacing them with younger people.

This is nothing new. It's pretty common practice in the workplace, (whether it be WalMart or Enron) to have pay grades, generally tied (but not exclusively) to education levels and sometimes experience. Once you've reached the max. it's either time to go for the next degree (which opens up higher brackets), or accept the fact that your not going any further at said company.

I know..I'm there. I don't like it, but at the same time, I feel he/she who has educated themselves further, deserves at least the oppurtunity to make more. It's a fundamental part of capitalism.

Not when you are a single Mother raising two children. My sister is very well educated and not wet behind the ears. She has worked her way to where she is by being totally dedicated to that company when she could have been working in a law office somewhere. Where is the loyalty?


I HIGHLY doubt Enron was " family oriented" as Walmart has portrayed themselves to be. BUT, Walmart is headed in the same direction of corporate greed like Enron, so you could possibly be on to something with the comparison.

I like Walmart, but am not happy knowing the inside scoop and the direction they are taking.
