Yeah......which is sad because we do have quite a few people who know what they are talking about.

We know you guys are Linda, and we love you all! It's so busy in there that you guys cannot catch everything. Just us nervous nellies watching this thing - fwb doesn't want to have to move to Alaska

I actually forgot to post the smiling smiley in that post. The reason I forgot is because the BionicMod named Aquawind was beating me to something over there. lol.

Lots of locked threads, that's for sure.
The mods are working overtime... they should get paid.

If the mods lock a thread it's for a good reason you can be sure.

I'm rooting for you guys, but it looks like an uphill battle.
20 vs. 9000 is definately the low side of things, but all of you do a great job none the less.

The forum has become a chatroom just like Chad said in his post. I think this is a consequence of S2K's success. The site has become very popular and seen an influx of people who aren't necessarily adjusted to our particular way of doing things. On other forums the tendency has been towards cheerleading and 'location biased forecasting'. For a long time here that wasn't a large part of the discourse. In fact the term 'wish--' was banned through software modification. Hence my euphamism of 'location biased forecasting'. Right now it's impossible to deny.
The great thing about the success of this site is the number of professional meteorologists and grad students who post their insights. The creation of the Tropical Analysis forum for these pros and the Questions forum were great. Those seeking well reasoned ideas are best sticking with the analysis forum. For up to the minute reports talking tropics is great, the problem is simply sorting through the nonsense.
Oh and another great thing that has been done is the elimination of post counts. That was spectacular, and the only part I regret is not being able to find my old posts by clicking on 'recently posted' under my profile. That was the main way I found what I posted the day before and responses received.
Those are my thoughts on the matter.

It's hard to control the "chatting" in the threads. We've requested but it doesn't do any good.

I have a headache because of the constant monitoring of the Wx Recon flights.... (IMO, nobody is really happy with the recon reports or people on board)... Even though I have my foot in the door with the Hurricane Hunters, it still irks me with all the neg comments about the fantastic group of folks. It is a hard job, until people have been in the planes they really don't consider the work that is done on those planes.
Otherwise... great job mods!

I get a headache whenever a developing storm somewhere makes all these children scream about a cat 4 or 5 system making landfall - and the storm is not even a hurricane yet at all nor is there any support or evidence for such an event. Reminds me of Chris..............
All the hype is not even worth clicking onto. It's just plain absurd to wishcast something like that when nobody has any idea what tomorrow could bring.
Just ignore until the time comes..........

There is too many posts reading "I agree" sort of stuff. Also, the same thing is being repeated several times over, especially "The Gulf can't handle this". It's pretty obvious they can't, but it's going to happen anyways, nothing we can do. The storm doesn't change every second, we got to wait for satelite updates and what not, once they come everyone says the same thing, and asks the same thing over and over. Just a little too much excitement going around, but we got to contain ourselves with overposting.
Especially for our friends on dial-up, or internet that isn't highspeed. Like mine
