I'm home, I don't have to work at either job!
Didn't make any plans because of all the rain, but maybe I can talk to the old man, maybe take a trip down to the shore, we haven't been to the shore at all this year and just walk on the boardwalk and depending on which shore we go to, either get a Mack's pizza or a sausage with peppers and onions....oooo now I'm hungry

I'm going to your house, Dennis.
If that doesn't work out I'm going to chip away at a pile of work I brought home. We have two projects going out for bid in two weeks and there's a ton of work. I need the overtime anyway.

Congratulations on your graduation and have a WONDERFUL BBQ!
Me, I'm waiting for Ernesto to leave us alone. Our local Sports Radio Talk show, 610 WIP, is having their annual Football Suicide pool so I'm making my selections. Last's year's winner out of over 5,000 participants was A GIRL!!
Other than that, relax, work outside when it dries up abit and maybe catch the movie "Invincible".

X's his fingers....we got SLAMMED about 2 hours ago but there's blue sky AND there's NOTHING coming on the radar, PLEASE just hold off on the rain until 2200 hrs tonight then let it RIP again!
Thanks...that was the LONGEST 2 years of my life I swear to God

but......it's OVER! Am I going back to school for my Masters in Criminal Justice? Probably, in 6 months or so, right now I NEED a break from the books!

Labor Day Weekend in Cincinnati = Riverfest/Toyota WEBN Fireworks. 500,000 people turn out, on both sides of the Ohio River, in Northern Kentucky (Newport, Covington) and downtown Cincinnati. People claim their spots hours before the fireworks start, often early morning. There are festivities/ bands playing, food, non alcoholic drinks available all day too. Also, hundreds of boaters anchor off in the river. This year is the 30th Anniversary (I went to the very first one!)

This is a huge, 30 minute fireworks display, corigraphed to music (current or past movies, classical to rock, some audio from movies too) similcast on FM station WEBN and local TV Channel 12.

Wow, Miss Mary, Labor Day sounds like major party-time in Cincinnati! The weekend here in SoFla is much more low-key, perhaps because the beginning of September doesn't really seem like the "end of summer" here. A very heavy rainstorm began early afternoon and the weather stayed overcase and sprinkly the rest of the day. Tomorrow will probably be more of the same, but Monday may have less shower activity. Actually, this past work week was a very short one: Ernesto cancelled classes (and closed many other offices/businesses) on Tuesday and Wednesday.
My Sunday-Monday plans are to finish putting the pool and patio decor back in place (from pre-Ernesto storage), begin constructing my syllabus for my Instructional Strategies class which runs Oct-Dec, and perhaps set up an impromptu Happy Hour with any neighbors who might be home Sunday or Monday afternoon.
P.S. I finally had my initial interview for the new Teacher Certification Program Director position at the college and will find out Wednesday about a second interview. I'm very excited and hopeful!

Diane - it is and 30 years ago it wasn't this way. All WEBN did that year (1977) was hold a fireworks display, nothing planned before it and see if anyone turned out to watch. Thousands turned out for it. I remember attending it and showing up 10 minutes before they were to start. No one would be able to show up that late - you'd be in traffic! They close streets and bridges (except I 75) in fact. I believe that one time deal was to celebrate WEBN's anniversary (not sure of the year) but it took off, so much so festivities were planned on both sides of the Ohio River to keep people who had staked their spot off early, busy with events and music planned thru out the day.
Once and only once was I in the actual thick of it - at the Serpentine Wall on the Ohio side, in downtown Cincinnati. It was nuts but I didn't care. People everywhere, shoving you and then voila, at 9 p.m., they start and everyone is ready. It does sound silly b/c they're only fireworks but now Labor Day weekend in Cincinnati means the fireworks. The two just go hand in hand, one weekend, one thought. Funny article on your typical Riverfestiver:

RAINED OUT

We got rained out last night....over 2.8" fell over the entire night BUT...the party was moved inside. Picture this, over 47 people crammed into a 1200 sq. ft. home with a LIVE band "HUH?, WHAT, I CAN'T HEAR YOU?!"

Have a pounding headache (it was the music...YEAH right Dennis, TOO MUCH MGD last night

)
Anyways...Happy Laboring Day tomorrow, now it's off for MORE coffee and some "Head on, apply directly to the forehead, Head on, apply directly to the forehead, Head on, apply directly to the forehead!"
