About 15 years ago, I dug up a part of a spiderwort that my grandmother had had in her garden. She had called them bluebells and I actually didn't know that they werre really called spiderworts until a few years ago. Anyway, I planted it at my house in a nice sunny area and it thrived. Unfortunately, I divorced but before we sold the house, I dug up the plant and potted it and brought it to the condo that I lived in for about a year. When I bought a new home, it was then planted in another sunny spot and thrived once again for a good 8 years. When I sold my home and moved to a new one, I split the plant and brought half of it with me and now it's loving it new home of 3 years.

Does anyone else have a plant that they have received from someone special?

Nice topic ! Most of my flowers have been handed down. I have my grannies rhubarb , fern leaf peonies, lemon lily, irises, not to mention loads of other perennials from friends and family ! Oh ! I also have a flowering Christmas/ Easter catus that was my great grandmas ! These things mean alot to me.I'd dig them up and take them where ever I lived ! ~K

Last night I was outside weeding and just marvelling how the spiderwort was growing and spreading when I started to think about when I first got it from my grandmother.

The pale pink peonies that I transplated from my Mom's
garden remind me of the lovely lady who gave them to
her - my Aunt Lois, who died of cancer when I was 9 yrs.
old. She was my favorite aunt, full of patience, love, and
compassion!
