AAAAAARRRGH!

Came home today for lunch, most of y'all know we have 3 BIG house dogs, 2 labs and one Flat Coat Retriever...ANYWAY, opened up the front door and Jessica, the Chocolate Lab ATE about a 10" square HOLE in the CARPET along the edge (we have tile in the kitchen with the carpet at the edge of the kitchen) AND....scratched ANOTHER hole by the front DOOR We were getting new carpet when we got back from vacation but that's not the point. GOD I'm so MAD....we went out and bought throw rugs to cover the holes.

Labs are VERY needy dogs, emotionally and all, Jessica is in her "terrible 2's"....she just turned 2 last month. She is very active, Michelle works her 5 days a week to keep her tired.

Yeah, I know...big dogs should not be house dogs but these girls are THE biggest babies...they can't stand the rain (we had 1" today with more tonight and tomorrow), they can't stand the cold

Ah well, this too shall pass.........and NO, I'm not selling her, I'm GIVING her away "NOT!!" I couldn't give up my chocolate girl although right now if someone came along and wanted her, I'd have to think twice about it

Would you consider a 'cultural exchange" between Jessica and Annabelle (she be a ho')?

My dog has some nasty habits and any piece of black clothing is covered in her hair, we keep lint rollers everywhere - car, by the front door, where I iron, etc. But I'd never swap her!

Well, she BE a ho'...and I keep putting her little self in the window, but she ain't makin' no money fo' her Daddy...so, a swap is the next best thing.

Besides, coppertop's been ragging about wanting a BIG dog; I'd LOVE to see how he'd handle Jessica.

Hey! Who sez big dogs shouldn't be house dogs? Don't tell that to my two - they would strenuously object! My neighbor has a 120-lab that's an indoor dog too. They do grow out of the destructive age, but it seems to take an eternity sometimes. Our worst one, Chica, ate a large hole out of the Armstrong (HA!) kitchen floor, and then chewed up one of the legs on my prize piano. Do I need to mention counter-surfing skills too?

I know Dennis, labs can be nuts until they grow up. My step daughter had one in her mobile home, and she was totally schitzo. I'm talking about the dog. Actually, my s.d. is schitzo too.

Her 10-year old pit is the mellowest dog you'd ever want to know, but that lab.....

We have a new pup. He's about 3 months and already bigger than our 7-year old female. He's a chewer too. My avatar is a picture of him taken with a really cheap digital camera.

Did you ever read the book Marley & Me? I know there was a discussion on it a long time ago. I started it and haven't finished it. I'm getting to the end of the book...

It is funny as heck. I love the description in the beginning of his gentle mother and then the raving lunatic father dog that they saw, who Marley ultimately took after to a point.

Thanks! I did see this - I get the Philadelphia Inquirer. I can't imagine how different the house is now with Gracie as opposed to Marley.

He is an excellent writer. I always read his columns.

I need to finish that book. Someone told me the ending is sad so when I got close, I put the book aside. Thanks for the reminder Steph. I need to finish it!

Oh, Marley & Me. What a wonderful book. I think i read it one sitting. I recommend it to everyone.

That's exactly what I've done. I'm a wimp when it comes to sad stories about animals!

I too love the book Marley& Me. Affter I saw your posts about the book, I went and bought it. I loved it.

LOL to Mary and Steph! I will admit the ending is sad enough to even get the men I know who read it to get teary-eyed - Dave included. But it's one of those 'laughter through tears' type of endings and a true salute to a great canine family member. Keep with it!
