Google down? Anyone else having issues?

Currently for the past four or five hours roughly, Google hasn't been operational. I've tried to access Google but the site won't load. Anyone else having problems? It appears Google may be down, or is it just my server?

Anyone else having problems getting into Google?

Works fine, don't see any problems.

Hmm... now it works for me. It has been occasionally working, but doesn't work for me shortly thereafter. It also briefly worked roughly an hour earlier, but didn't work a few minutes later and I couldn't get in until just now.

Anyone having these problems?

Did anyone have problems earlier, though, in accessing Google? Could I have a potential virus in my PC's server connection to certain sites?

I think you'd either have or not have a virus. I'm not aware of anyone having a "potential" virus. Run a virus scan and it'll show if you have a virus or not.

I know. As for virus protection, I have Norton on my PC, which works fairly well. It may need some upgrades, so the lack of a recent upgrade on some minor issues could account for the problem, at least partially. It could also be a server issue. Good points, though.

Again, anyone had any problems earlier with Google? Kathy, did you?

Nortons tends to block random websites and/or programs on my pc once in a while. I don't know why norton does that, maybe it thinks they're are a threat, but it sure is irritating. Maybe you're experiencing the same problem.

Norton is notorious for such things. I like McAfee better myself.

Google down!

I thought maybe that was some new slang phrase for "get down" or "shake your booty."

Well, the site was probably down or a server error was present. Google is now working fine for me and has been since yesterday, as it finally worked later on.

That's the problem...

Disable the firewall and install a new one. Sometimes Norton will block out websites (make them REALLY slow) for no reason at all.

Go with AVG by Grisoft. It's free and does the job just fine. Norton and other similar software are TOO invasive to your system and perform functions that cause other problems, all unbeknown to you. Grisoft does it's job of protecting your PC, and that's all you really need anyway. Nothing running in the background to cause problems... I've used it for years and it has worked flawlessly.

Actually, if I remember right, some major ISPs were partially down for a while around the time this thread was started, as a DNS server in Massachusettes crashed for a few hours on the 5th or 6th . . . could've sworn I'd seen an article on this, but I can't seem to find it now.

And as for Norton, the only issues I have with it is that it blocks other computers from accessing mine on our LAN, never has it blocked any websites over the internet, especially not something as tame and simple as Google.
