My wife is quitting her job in less than a week in a half. That is not what She and I are angry about. She called her manager to find out if there paychecks were at the store, they were not!!!!! Her owners daughter thinks that if it were a holiday like today even though most people worked that she should not pay them!!! Also if she does not put her few weeks in they think they can cut her pay to minimum wage and hold her last paycheck for 31 days!!!!! I do not think this is right or even the law. Has anyone out there ever gone through this or evere heard of this????? She is puttiing in her last 2 weeks.thanks

When u quit a job u should get your last check on the next payday..or the one after that depending on when the pay period starts and ends. As far as cutting her pay to minimum wage im not sure if they can do that or not, but if i were to have to venture a guess i think they can. They cannot however hold her last check in retailation for any length of time.

My wife's last paycheck from her currant job will be the 23rd,but her last day will be next Wednesday. What they don't realize is even though thay may cut her hours and paycheck she makes up for at the other job that she 's taking in a week in ahalf she works there.

I don't think they can cut her salary unless she's cutting her hours to warrant it, or they have a good reason to do so. Simply her quitting/putting in her 2 wks sounds like they are abusing their rights as employers.

Check out findlaw.com - it's a free site and you should be able to do some research on employment law. Also, check the SC labor department for the SC employment laws. There will be something in there regarding what the employers can and cannot do in these types of situations. Good luck!

Canelaw99 is absolutely correct... each state is different. Now if you were in our state... FL... They can do pretty much anything to you because it is a right to hire and fire state. You can be fired for ANYTHING except your race, sex, or age.
