OK, I watch a lot of TV and have a good sense of humor but I have tried this show for the 2 weeks it has been on and find it unfunny!

I know that I am not humor-less; but I don't get it.

There are many other much funnier shows that don't get the hype that this does.

Anyone have a comment?

We're having a hard time getting into this show as well. It doesn't help that we already watch and enjoy Studio 60 (similar plot, but an hour long drama). My husband said - why do they have to make 2 new shows so similar? LOL

However, we find the show that began when this one did, 20 Good Years very funny. And didn't expect to! The ep with the actress who played Daphne from Frasier, was hilarious.

My favorite new show is Studio 60 (current season). Last season - How I Met Your Mother.

So yeah, in a wordy way, you're not alone - we don't get it either. Finally, I should add that I've never like Alec Baldwin (going way back to his Knots Landing days).

fci - here's a link for Studio 60, in case you're interested. If not, just ignore. It airs on Monday nights, NBC, @ 10 p.m. (EST).

I totally agree. It was SO boring. It also suffered a 30% drop week-to-week in the ratings(5.5/9 to a 3.9/6), so we weren't the only ones. For having so much hype, everything about the show has been disappointing. 20 Good Years is doing even worse.

Mary:
Already hooked on Studio 60.
I have always loved the Aaron Sorkin shows; Sports Night, West Wing and now Studio.
It's just his shows seem intellectually challenging for many viewers with more cerbral themes without cheap laughs (which seems to satisfy John/Jane Q. Public) or violence (which does the same). The dialog is crisp and fast and I think that is why the shows don't seem to get into the Top 20 very often although the demographics are quite good.
Just hope it survives!

There is no comparison between 30 Rock and Studio 60.
As for other new shows; I like The Nine and Friday Night Lights

None of those three are really doing well.

Studio 60

Premiere(September 18)-8.6/14
September 25-7.5/12
October 2-6.0/10
October 9-5.7/9
October 16-5.3/8

Friday Night Lights

Premiere(October 3)-4.7/7
October 10-4.1/6
October 17-4.2/6

The Nine

Premiere(October 4)-7.8/13
October 11-5.7/9
October 18-5.8/9

Alright, 1 by 1:

Studio 60-NBC will defintely air at least 13 episodes of Studio 60 or face a stiff cash penalty, but those numbers are not good. This show was the most wanted show of all the networks and NBC got it after a bidding war. I don't see it making it after this season as long as it keeps losing viewers week after week. It's expensive. May go to another timeslot.

Friday Night Lights-NBC is trying out a new episode in Studio 60's slot next Monday(a repeat of the Pilot of Studio 60 was scheduled). If it happens to do better(Heroes, the lead-in, is doing well and got a full-season order), then I think it will air there for good, but the Tuesday numbers aren't good(it's facing tough competition though, and DID stabilize last week), so I think NBC will stick with it. They've ordered more scripts.

The Nine-Losing a significant amount of a weaker Lost lead-in, but it did stabilize after a huge drop from the premiere and actually perked up a bit last week, so we'll see. I think ABC will stick with it, but they may try it in a different timeslot. I think the show would do better elsewhere(intense shows don't do well after Lost).

fci - this is our first Sorkin show. I'll admit it, we eagerly awaited Studio 60 b/c of Matthew Perry. Loyal Friends fan here (entire family). At the end of the pilot, we all said - wow, our new favorite show! Loved it - immediately. So I guess you can say we're clueless on the inside Sorkin knowledge but we're picking up on it. I read message boards! MP was perfectly matched with Bradley Whitford! Similar to the pairing he had with Matt LeBlanc. Basically what I've noticed with Studio 60 is it doesn't have that new show feel. As you watch it, you feel as though it's been on a full season or two. The cast comraderie is there, already.

That's my take on it anyways!

NBC announced today that 30 Rock will move to Thursdays and air at 9pm ET/PT starting November 30th(interestingly after November Sweeps end in what is mostly repeat-filled December). Scrubs will also return and follow at 9:30(Earl and Office will still air 8-9). I imagine the ratings tonight were absolutely horrible, so this should help the chances of the show making it. They are trying to re-create their powerhouse Thursday Night lineup from the 80's and 90's with The Cosby Show, Cheers, A Different World, Seinfeld, Friends, and more.

Wow - imagine that - NBC is finally getting smart! I've always thought Scrubs belonged on Thursday nights. Not a die hard fan but I've watched a few episodes. They needed to hold the Office and Earl fans for another hour. If this plan works, they will have 3 straight hours of must-see-TV!

I'm still not thrilled with 30 Rock though. I can't stand Alec Baldwin! Of course it helps that he plays a jerk in this show....LOL

Seems like NBC is trying to force feed us 30 Rock.
But they can't do Deal or No Deal everynight so they have to put something there.

Oh well, I'll just set my VCR twice now instead of straight through....

Ding! Ding! Ding!

"Dancing with the Stars," 13.2/21, dominated the 8 p.m. hour for ABC and was the night's most-watched show. CBS' "Jericho" was second at 6.8/11. "America's Next Top Model," 3.7/6, put The CW in a tie for third with NBC's "30 Rock" and "Twenty Good Years," though NBC had slightly more viewers. FOX trailed with coverage of the World Series rainout and a "War at Home" repeat.

If the World Series hadn't been rained out, they would have been in last.

It is so far this week the lowest-rated original programming on the Big 4.

Good, may Rock 30 continue to fail and be gone.

Maybe I can get a S2K annual award for "Most Critical of 30 Rock"??
(A little synergy with the other thread.....)
