http://www.tripletsandus.com/80s/fashion.htm

This is a good site that gives what men and women wore in the 80's from hair dos to clothes and accessories. Even has a section on the slang of the 80's. Like grody to the max, gag me with a spoon.

Anything black and white checked. A mullet was early 90's, not 80's.

Tease your bangs up, REALLY tall, taller than the rest of your hair - you want it
to look like you're a unicorn with a horn sticking up! We've got gals that still
wear their hair like that, around here, and, our favorite remark is (under your
breath, of course), "1980's is calling, and, they want your hair back!"

Mullets started in the 1970's according to my sources, but I will defer to the opinions of those who were actually alive then. :P

EDIT - Bullets were started much earlier. Too much military history for Kevin...

Big Hair is what it was called. lol. All you have to do is get some Rave hairspray, pull your hair up and spray at the roots. Do this same thing all over. You can't go wrong.

Check out movies like The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo's Fire, Sixteen Candles and other Brat Pack movies from the 80's for 80's attire.

fact789 - I just clicked on your bio to see if you're male or female. Which would greatly help us who suffered thru the 80s, in putting together an outfit for you! That said, I noticed you were born on....

Christmas Day! Pretty cool.....except your BD and xmas gifts were probably all rolled into one.

Okay, back to an 80s discussion. LOL What I remember for girls were oxford shirts were in with men's ties (the knit, squared off ones were popular), big shirts that came almost down to your knees, worn with tight leggings, wide belts cinched at the waist of the big shirt, big, puffy hair as someone pointed out, etc. Watch a few reruns of Knots Landing to get ideas too. I'd suggest Dallas or Dynasty but their stars dressed too rich! Knots was more everyday folk. One more thing - tuxedo shirts. They were very popular - I had one.

Good luck and have fun.

Oh my gosh - I can't believe I did this. That is when fact789 joined. And I call myself an S2K member.......sorry!

We do have a list of birthdays on the Greetings Forum.

I think I need to log off for the night! Sorry for the confusion.

Big hair, flourescent colored clothing, huge cheesy earrings, and a boombox propped up on your shoulder at all times.

Stick finger in light socket to get Big Hair effect; HUGE shoulder pads, cinched-waist jacket with peplum, slim skirts below the knee, 40's-era pumps, cheap plastic accessories - the bigger the better. Don't forget all the punkers in the early 80's with multi-colored mohawks. Hi-waisted, short, pegleg jeans with slouch socks showing; Jane Fonda workout wear with leggings and leg warmers. Anyone remember the brief flurry of Units clothing? Ugh! I just cringe when I see pics of myself back in those days!
