I feel like I'm living in some sort of third-world country. Every Westerner's talking about Starbucks, but there's not even one Starbucks in this country. Is it really that good?

But then again, we have Douwe Egberts and I don't think there's better coffee then that in the world.

They sell Douwe Egberts in the cafeteria here at the hospital and it's in the machines on the patient floors. It's good, but believe me, it's a far cry from Starbuck's. I'm not addicted to Starbuck's. However, it is the best I've ever had. You know when you have Starbuck's in your mug, even when it's one of a dozen flavored blends. It has a distinct, rich, "wake-ya-up-and-set-you-up-straight" scent.

Well, maybe Douwe Egberts doesn't want Starbucks here because they know it's better then their products. Who knows what kind of dirty tricks they're using to keep Starbucks out of here. Maybe there's some sort of hidden coffee-war going on.

CARMEL MACHIATO!!!!!!!!! I'm with you Dennis. I don't have Starbucks too often but when I do, I love it.

You know I had Folgers at my daughter's home this weekend and it wasn't half bad. Eight O'Clock coffee is terrific but I buy Kona whole beans at home. I have a Cappresso coffee maker that grinds the beans for me. YUM

Never been to a Starbucks (too many of 'em, taking over the world) and don't drink coffee. I think that makes me odd woman out and probably even weird in certain circles.  But I can't stand the smell of coffee, never have. Strange, eh?

OK... Well my weakness while I worked for Starbucks was a grande White Mocha with extra whipped cream and steamed to 140... I have sensitive teeth... nothing too hot or too cold... I know Im picky!! My other issue is that I quit starbucks back in August (day care was too pricey!) and I will NEVER go back to Folgers or Maxwell House coffee!! I totally love the Lightnote, House or Breakfast Blend (all milds from Latin America)... It truely is the LEGAL ADDICTION!!

Not a coffee drinker, period. Now, I have had hot cocoa from there before and it's good.

We have a Starbucks here in Lakeland and I have never been in it.They remodeled a gas station that went out of business for their building. I think coffee smells better than the taste of it. So I don't drink coffee at all. Hot Chocolate is a much better choice for me.

Tomorrow when I stride in to my waiting coffee I will take solace that it is a scenario being repeated in at least one other Starbucks.

My kids boycott Starbucks - LOL. And support, local coffee houses. Which are quite numerous now - over 5 in my suburb.

My main gripe in this area, are the prices! I prefer a small, regularly brewed cup of coffee - I know, go ahead and say it - how utterly boring! My daughters roll their eyes at me. Meanwhile, their latte, with extra's, adds up to 5 Bucks! Mine? In the $1.50 range.

First time I noticed my kids liked all these frozen or hot specialty coffee drinks, I was taken back and my reaction was of course from a budget point of view. And now more so - my college aged daughter had to give them up (along with smoothies). She ~finally~ could see that $3.50 to $5.00 a day for one drink, very quickly adds up!

My rant is over now. he he
