Happy Thanksgiving from the UK!

A couple of days early I know!
I've only ever had 2 thanksgivings in my life..thanks to friends who invited me and my wife around when we lived in Ohio for 2 years...I've been telling people over here about Thanksgiving....and we've all decided that we could use another holiday between the summer and christmas! We really enjoyed our thanksgivings we had in Ohio..despite the last being very cold! We learnt a lot from our American firends about Thanksgiving and what it means. And i think its a wonderful celebration.
Anyway, I'm sad not to be taking part this year...and I've got to work on Thursday as its just another day in Britain...but I will be thinking of everyone on the other side of the pond...maybe I'll get some turkey breasts for dinner on Thursday night to celebrate!
So from the UK...happy Thanksgiving!

Canada already celebrated our Thanksgiving on October 9... ours is always 6 weeks earlier than in the US.
So Thursday is just a regular work day here, just like in UK.
But here's wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving..from Canada.

Thanks to gord and Justin - it's true, though we should be thankful for things,
every day, having an "official" day to do it reminds us to BE thankful, it seems!

I think you are caught between two worlds Gord - missing Ohio and the US but happy to be ~home~. Aww, you can always make part of our traditions your own ya know....

! For instance, you can make Cincinnati Chili for you UK neighbors, even though it's not Thanksgiving related (I know you must have tried it in Columbus). I have a recipe if you want it. Maybe you could make a pumpkin pie for Thursday?
Our next door neighbors both grew up in England and over the years, they've introduced us to Boxing Day, Shepherd's Pie, etc. It's been fun!
So that space across the pond isn't so big......you could always come back for a visit!
Well, Happy T-giving our UK friend!

What's this "Thanksgiving" kemosabe?
I was at the mall yesterday and saw no mention of it. Hmmm. I thought it was Christmas season.

Too funny Regit! I've been thinking the same thing since Independence Day.
Many thanks to gord and our overseas friends for the good holiday wishes. I never knew our Thanksgiving Day was even noticed by others outside the US. Of course, gord was here to experience it for a couple of years. Aside from stuffing ourselves silly and blowing every diet on the planet, we really do need to remember that this is supposed to be a day of thanks for our blessings. In spite of the bad things that happen to all of us, there are usually many more things to be truly thankful for - one being our friends from overseas and outside the US in general. Thanks guys... and gals! for thinking of us!
