What miserable weather. Cold and rainy but it's still fun to see the balloons. I feel so bad for all those involved to have it "rain on their parade" after all their hard work.

One thing i find hard to watch is that nothing is thrown from the floats. Here whenever there's any kind of parade beads and/or candy are thrown for the spectators.

That seems to be pretty much a Southern tradition to me. I know when I was in parades or watched parades in P'cola there was always something being thrown from the floats. You don't see that often if at all in any of the Western or Northern parades.

I grew up in the Northeast, and I went to a few parades and there was nothing thrown out from the floats... I think that is a southern thing as well.... I like it though, they should try it... lol...

I think your right. They always throw candy, beads, and cheesy toys to the kids. Even at the small parade in the mall we were just at to welcome Santa, they threw candy canes, and small toys. The kids expect it.
The Macys parade started off okay, but then the weather seemed to get bad pretty quick. I love the Macys parade. Always watched it as a kid, and it just gives me a good feeling inside to watch it each year, and now with my own kids. Only beef I have is they seem to do way more talking each year and commercials. And not so much on the actual parade itself.

I didn't watch much of the parade; it was on at my parents house but I was visiting with my brother and SIL and playing with the niece and nephew.
They throw candy in parades in NW Minnesota! It would be unthinkable not to!
