Good god. He was obviously high to go swimming in a lake after dark in FL. Hes very lucky to have survived being in the jaws of a gator for that long. Most times they just take you to the bottom of the lake and drown you.

I know this lake well ...They have a park attached to it...There are areas that actually have signs that say hold on to children..Gator crossing area...

Heavily gator infested lake...

Poor gator was just hungry...Naked guy on crack sounded pretty good to him..

Though there's no way to be certain it's the right one, the animal caught was aggressive and found near the attack site.

:hmm: Aren't all alligators "aggressive"? :P

Some aren't aggressive. Usually they leave you alone. This gator was in feeding mode which makes them seem aggressive.

I heard on the news last night that they figured that the gator wasn't afraid of people because someone had been feeding it.

Now - how stupid is that? *shakes head* feeding a gator...

Good thing the gator didn't eat him. Then you'd have a gator on crack!

You see it everywhere. It crosses all socio-economic boundaries. Crack cocaine destroys lives. The recovery rate for crackheads is extremely low. I see it all the time. You get an addict cleaned up, going to meetings, gets a job and a home.........all seems to be well. And then right out of nowhere, they go back out. Very disappointing.

And then when someone brutally murders someone while high, they plead not guilty by reason of temporary insanity :grr:

Someone was feeding the gators while the deputies were investigating it the next day.

No, Gators are aggesive when the mothers are protecting the babies, males durring mating season and when they have been fed by humans. They feed at night which makes them more active. They perceive size via a silloute above the water. So, a man whose shoulders are above the water will be preceived of as a giant alligator. But, a determined human can provoke any gator into an attack.
I have been in the water durring daylight with gators and have never had problem. (For a job, and I had a lookout.) At night, even though I doubt that I would be attacked, I would never go in the water. This poor guy sounds like he is mentally ill along with being an addict. He should be pittied, not judged. Hopefully, he can take advantage of an outpatient treatment program. It is cheaper than sending him to jail and might result in somebody who is self support.
