I've lived in Florida most of my life and never knew we had coyotes in the wild, although it sounds like pit bulls did the damage. Quit blaming the poor coyotes.

Me either cookiely. I know we have panthers and bears, but have never heard anyone talk about coyotes in FL. Poor moo moo, that looks like it hurt. :(

EDIT: Check out this map cookiely. Seems like coyotes are rare that far south in Zephyrhills. But could have been possible. More likely dogs though.

We in Houston had a similar problem a few months ago with feral dogs (not pit bulls - just dogs left to fend for themselves) attacking an inner-city lot that housed high school FFA animals. A few were actually killed outright - mostly goats, I think. I hate government intervention in most things, but I would really love to see all backyard breeding of domestic animals outlawed and enforced. If you're not a licensed breeder and subject to regular inspection, you don't need to be adding to the animal population. OK, I'll step off my soapbox.
