What Do You Want for Christmas?

What Do You Want for Christmas?

So many of you asked us, since Christmas is near,
"What do you want for Christmas? What can we give you this year?"
If we say, "We want nothing!" you buy something anyway.
So here's a list of what we'd like; believe now what we say:
Pajamas for a little child, food to feed the poor.
Blankets for a shelter and we ask a little bit more--
Perform good deeds and let us know, or volunteer your time.
These last are worth a fortune, and they needn't cost a dime.
We have too many things now, vases, candles, tapes and clocks.
We have our fill of garments, ties, underwear and socks.
Candy is too fattening, crossword books we've more than 20.
We don't need trays or plates or cups, and knickknacks we have plenty.
We've no walls to hang our pictures;
We have books we've not yet read;
So please take what you'd spend on us and help the poor instead!
Just send a Christmas card to us and tell us what you've done;
We'll open them on Christmas Eve, and read them one by one.
It won't cost as much for postage as a package sent would do,
You'll need no wrapping paper, ribbons, ink or glue.
And we'll thank God you listened to what we had to say,
So we could be the instruments to help someone this way.

I'd like just one day without bad news about someone in our family...

1. New sweat pants (my dog kind of got excited one day...)
2. New tennis shoes (just ask my toes)
3. Some sort of precipitation--maybe a year-long thing of normal precip. (just ask my throat and skin)
4. A girlfriend (just ask my self-esteem)

But I already got a gift a week ago: I got my first story out for the college paper! :)

A maid would be good! I wouldn't know how to act. And I'd probably clean up b/c the maid was coming.....LOL That is just what my sisters-in-law do, when they know the cleaning lady is coming. You should hear their teenage kids - why do we have to clean for the cleaning lady? he he

I'd love to receive the brand new Season 1 St. Elsewhere DVD. I heard it's excellent and contains extras. My family of course is snickering and smirking, asking - St. Who? Only one of several excellent med dramas ever to be created. That's who! LOL Meanwhile, I keep whispering - it's up at Target, for only $31.99. They can all go into together......

You don't clean up before the maid comes, you "pick up". That's what i did when i had a maid. It got everything put up where it belonged so the maid could clean. You'd adapt quite easily to having a maid, Mary!

LOL @ Cathy! Okay, got it. You pick up......he he. I don't know, I still wouldn't know how to act. I have heard it's a wonderful smell to come home to - you open the door to be greeted with that fresh pine-sol scent. I'd have to be working full time to justify the expense though.......or win the lotto!

Years ago I managed to convince Dave I needed a maid. You should have heard the b******g and whining about having to pay $35 every two weeks. I got the same grief from him when I'd pick up all his crap the night before she came. "Why are you cleaning if you're paying for a maid?" I never could get it through his pointed little head that the maid is here to CLEAN - not pick up after his lazy self. Nope, that was MY job. :roll:

I managed to hold on to that service for 3 years and just loved coming home and having everything clean and smelling so good. They really did a great job. Now that my health is shot, Dave keeps making noises about hiring a service again, but somehow hasn't gotten around to it. Wonder how long I can stay on strike? :cheesy:

How long ago was that? That seems really cheap. I wonder what the going rate for a maid is these days....I need to get me one of those!

<looks back into my old brain wrinkles> 'Gale, I'm thinking that was roughly 1993-1997. My next-door-neighbor recently hired a service for his 4 bedroom 2.5 bath home at $40 a week. I'm sure all the available illegal alien labor has a whole lot to do with the low prices.... :roll:

Ditto. This has been a tough month for mine and Marty's aunt just passed away 2 days ago. I hope that was the #3 in "things happen in 3's".

I LIKE that maid idea as well! :D

Actually, looking for a cleaning service is one job I need to do while I'm on winter break next week. I'll need to first have heavy-duty cleaning (floors, upholstery, windows, cabinets) completed and then someone in every other week for "maintenance."

Since we're going on an Alaskan cruise this coming June, we decided to cut back on other gifts. So basically for Christmas, my only request is a Senseo coffee-maker for my office.

In addition, I'd like to find a new stylist for my hair. Three days ago I spent $120 on color and a cut, and already I see that the cut (really just a small trim, which is the problem) just isn't working -- although the color and highlighting is great.

Hmm, I'd also love to lose 25 pounds. I've asked Santa several times for that one! :lol:
