Unusual and Tragic Event Yesterday

Our housekeeper was involved in a triple fatal accident yesterday...a large SUV was going too fast and slammed into the back of a sedan (killing mother and child inside). The sedan in turn flew into the intersection and struck a man on a motorcycle, killing him. The SUV went airborne, flipped end-over-end 3 times, bounced off a Mercury sedan, and clipped a red minivan driven by our housekeeper. Thankfully her injuries were not severe.

Her car is the red minivan-

Thankfully she is going to be OK, but just goes to show how crazy some people can get when they are behind the wheel.

That was my initial thought...oh those poor families. I can't even imagine. :(

My oh my...how fast must that SUV have been going to do that to the sedan with the mother and child inside!

You can be obeying traffic laws and minding your own business...then bam. You just never know.

My prayers go out to the families of the deceased and your housekeeper as well.

What a shocking and senseless tragedy. I am stunned, looking at the photos, relieved to know that your housekeeper was okay but very saddened a mother and child died at the scene.

People just drive way too fast and they do everything but watch the road - text messaging, cell phones, applying makeup, eating, drinking, etc. I've seen drivers reading the actual newspaper.

:-(

Glad your housekeeper came out unscathed....

The driver of the Nissan Pathfinder (SUV) was 25 years old. The Mother was 48 and her son was 8. The man on the motorcycle was 48. It was a Honda Accord the SUV actually drove through and then went flying into the air. The Mother and son were killed instantly and the man on the motorcycle died about 5 minutes later. No injuries in the Grand Marquis (an elderly couple) and one was injured in the mini van. The driver of the SUV was walking around after the accident.

My prayers are going out for the families! I am so glad your housekeeper was not hurt but I know she will be troubled by the memory of it. So many times people should pay attention when they are busy doing something else.

The driver of the SUV was probably upset that the accident delayed him from getting to where he was going. Depending upon the laws in your state I presume he could be charged with vehicular homicide or manslaughter if it can be proven that his driving was reckless. From the total destruction of the first vehicle it would appear that his speed was certainly beyond the bounds of prudence in an urban area.

That is just horrible. Unfortunately, accidents of this nature are FAR too common and are not out of the ordinary. Good thing your housekeeper survived quite well.

Very, very unfortunate and sad. My condolences certainly go out to those involved, especially the victims and their families.

Any possibilities that the SUV driver will be charged on account of drunk driving or driving under the influence of harmful ailments?

I agree. He hit it then literally drove through it.
