Ode to the Lunch Lady
Teachers come and teacher go.
It's the lunch lady who you get to know.
She ladles the gravy, she scoops the peas,
You can get an extra portion if you just say please.
Five days of the week, the lunch lady is there,
Handing you a tray with a pizza square.
Although some of the food might look a bit scary,
You can rest assured it's sanitary.
Because the lunch lady serves her food with pride,
Even if she's not sure what's inside.
Potato nuggets, corn dogs, pudding and pie,
Casseroles, medleys and something that's fried.
She fills your plate with a smile and a wink,
And reminds you to pick out something to drink.
Lunch lady, lunch lady, you're the diva of the school,
Here's what I say, "I think you're cool."

Okay, that needs to be printed and put up on our fridge! Cause I get zero respect around here.....my kids are embarrassed to say their mom is a lunch lady! I tell them - get over it!

Karan - that was cute, thanks for sharing it. I will print it and take to work when we go back, Jan. 2nd. Yes, did you catch that - I go back to work January 2nd. That is why I'm a lunch lady - the schedule!!!!

Each line so true, I was just reminding 7th and 8th Graders to get their milk, b/c they were eating in their classrooms that very last day. I received a lot of thank you's for these reminders......we closed up shop after the last kid left! We were outta there just about......

That is one thing about lunch ladies - once serving is over, you blink and the food is all put away!

I found out in elementary school that if you were REALLY nice to the lunch ladies you would get an extra serving of dessert. :cheesy: Worked like a charm.

Exactly Lin. I scored many an extra milk or dessert this way. Tell them they look very pretty today works great too.

I love our lunch ladies. :) They rock! I bet you do a fine job.

Kids will be kids...don't let their embarassment bother you. They are teenie boppers. They would be embarassed if you were perfect. :ggreen:
