Tesla - Think Electric Vehicles Are Junk? Think Again!

Once upon a time electric vehicles offered very low performance when compared to conventional cars that had internal combustion engines.
No more, my friend! This baby totally
rocks. 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds. Need I say more?
A few days ago, I saw a demo of the Tesla on TV as was very impressed (to say the least). Check it out:

Perhaps the only real question remaining is if big oil companies are going to play fair.

That's awesome. Producing a headline-grabbing sports car first is a good strategy. They have a relationship with Lotus in England who designed the body and will produce the car in England.

And with the proposed solar panels in the roof, it'll be even better.
200KW motor = 268 Horsepower.

IMHO electric cars are the future. They just have to improve the battery technology. In the meaqntime, we need to build nuclear power plants to provide the energy for our cars that currently comes from gasoline. This is the only way we will ever cut our dependence on foreign oil.

Well, yeah, $100,000 for the first models. When electronic calculators first came out they were hundreds of dollars. Now they're give-away promo items.

Yep. "Economies of scale" I believe it's called: The more plentiful an item becomes, the cheaper it gets.

We also have electric lorries being trialled over here at the moment. They don't go quite as fast but I don't feel that kind of acceleration is really needed in this case.

Yep...wouldnt mind an electric vehicle...they are pretty interesting and gas free...though I would assume you have to charge your battery every so often, right? what about the hydrogen fuel cell cars? I remember hearing the President say he was going to help those along, but havent seen anything on it since then (it was one of his addresses...cant remember which, but think it was several years ago)
