On Monday, Jan 8, 2007 there were reports of what appeared to be a
monstrous gas leak in New York City and nearby Jersey City. No gas leak
was ever found. Rochester, NY reported 4 broken water mains during this
same time frame. Marine tankers report their alarms for methane going
off, but no leaks found. About a dozen people were taken to hospitals
complaining of breathing problems. Then the reports from around the
world started pouring in, all seeming to be happening simultaneously.
Italy evacuated people from Genova and Bologna due to gas leaks, an
explosion killing one. London closed their tube lines due to suspected
gas leaks, smells. Australia had water main breaks in Adelaide, and gas
smells evacuated a mall in Perth where several were hospitalized as a
result. No gas leak was ever located. Here in the US reports came in
from Ohio smells, and a factory explosion, cause unknown. Nashville, TN,
gas line leak. Mobile, AL gas leak. Blue Springs, MO gas leak with
explosion and evacuation. Dallas, TX smells and in Houston a factory
fume leak, cause unknown, and in Austin dead birds, cause unknown. Iowa,
a pond bubbling. Albuquerque, MN city evacuated due to gas smells. Half
Moon Bay, CA evacuated due to smells, Santa Barbara marine tanker alarms
due to methane, no leak found, and Oxnard freeway closed due to gas main
break. So what is causing this sudden release of methane, along with
obvious gas and water main breaks and factory explosions. Also, is this
methane from the Earth making people sick, and killing birds?

I've been wondering if any conclusion or theories had developed yet or will we never hear of it again. It's beyond weird. This report didn't even mention the thousands of dead birds in Australia as well. What the heck is going on? Is it over?

I wouldn't be surprised if there is some association with the gas leaks and the birds dying.

Also, don't forget about the Monserrat volcano...

Great, 2007 seems like it's going to be another one of THOSE years. What is it with the first decade of the new century??

sounds to me like a communicatio break down.

"Gas leaks" probably are the result of some substance from beneath the earth's surface rising up from the ground. Nothing really amazing.

Could be mass hysteria.

Stop and think about something....we're pumping MILLIONS if not billions gallons of crude oil from the earth everyday and it's leaving an "empty space" as it where...think about it, you can't pull something out without leaving a VOID :?:

I think in some cases were pumping water into those voids to force the oil to the top and out. But no doubt we have some man made voids in the crust that could collapse or fill with gases etc. Water underground flows in rivers through even rock so no doubt we have things like sinkholes and some could be massive deep underground waiting to collapse or release.

Methane gas is a by product of decay....fossil fuels = decay = methane gas + earthquake (8.0 in Russia, volcanic activity on near same day) = methane gas release! :?:

If you haven't noticed, earthquakes are on the rise globally on all active faults, some which produced a quake every year are producing 2 per week right now. Does it connect?

Look at this then, Maine not too long ago experienced a few off-shore or near shore earthquakes measuring about 2.0... maybe gas was released into the Atlantic Ocean, and the water stunk. It's a possibility, but not likely. Look at all options on these.

Well, one of my hobbies is earth changes/disasters and I do get a lot of mail on this, but this one really grabbed my attention so I wanted to pass it on
