Anyone else already finished filing your taxes yet?
Thanks to electronic W-2's and electronic filing online, I am!

And, since I'm in Texas, I only had to file federal, not state.
Now I can sit back, relax, watch Grey's Anatomy, and wait for my return...which is also being sent electronically...and watch the procastinators squirm until mid-April. Isn't modern technology great?

Have you noticed that being a contractor that you owe the state more??? Not sure if your dh had a non-contracting job, but I've noticed since I've been a contractor with the feds I've always owed the state more! I'll get a refund from federal but it peeves me that I have to pay the state of PA.

Some tax preparation offices now offer electronic filing without your W-2's. Some of you waiting on your W-2's need to check into it.

I do my own taxes (with turbo tax), filed them last year with just the last paystub(instead of W-2) and got audited

I always engineer our withholding so that we owe as much of our tax liability as possible. Thus we don't file until the last minute. Why let the government have your money any earlier than absolutely necessary? I'm not a big fan of giving interest-free loans!

Hubby went to his accountant on Monday and got Uncle Sam all squared away.
Can't wait to book our summer vacation with the refund.

Not me. I still need my W-2's and a few other pieces of information. I bought my Tax Cut software though.

I used Turbo Tax the first couple of years after my divorce; but after talking to a friend who was an accountant I realized how many deductions I was missing; couple that with letters from the IRS saying I owed thousands of dollars (their mistake, they had my ex, his new wife AND me as a "married couple" ROFL - I don't THINK so!) and I decided it is worth my peace of mind to have them done professionally. Not to mention that when I do them myself I procrastinate too long. Have an appointment to get them done February 9 and am looking forward to having that refund deposited into my savings account!

I'll never do my own taxes using any tax software. They miss too many things, and everytime, it came up with a different number that I either owed or that I got back. And I put in the same numbers. Will wait for our paperwork to fully come in and then contact the accountant to have them do it.

I go to a professional, especially since I own my own business and dh does contract work. I deduct everything down to the pen I write with. Last year, we got back about 5K from fed but owed the state. Hopefully, this year will be the same.

Holly, I get a federal refund but I always owe the state too. I've even had more state witholding taking out of our checks. Don't know what's up with that.

Heard on the radio this AM that PA mailed out the wrong tax forms, they mailed out ones with 2005 instead of 2006 info-figures
