If you are really upset

I was just wondering if any of you had some advice on how to handle being really upset with someone. I am really furious and hurt right now. I am tempted to leave a hurt message on the answering machine of the other person involved expressing my feelings because I can never get a hold of this person on the telephone. I worry that I might be thinking unreasonably, however.

What should I do? Just ignore my feelings? Let things blow over for a couple days and see if I am approached or should I leave a message now? I know that I won't say anything stupid if I do call now but I am not sure if I will be glad that I vented my feelings in the morning.

What should I do? Thanks!

Count to 10.

Take a walk.

Sleep on it.

Write a letter to this person but don't mail it. Read it in the morning but again, don't send it.

But don't leave a message in anger. You may say something you'll regret and it's far better to calm down. Then choose what you'd like to do.

And you may want to do nothing! Over time, I mean....

Oh no, Jason. Not again. Don't call.

We gotta talk!

Definitely DO NOT CALL someone when you are this upset! That was a very hard lesson for me to learn over the years, but it really pays off to stop. If you suspect you aren't thinking straight - LISTEN to yourself. Sleep on it first. Hope you get whatever it is sorted out soon.

wait til the morning. Things always don't seem quite as bad after a good night's sleep.

All of the replies are RIGHT ON, Jason. Always take time to breathe and think. And, as suggested, waiting
until a new day dawns always makes you think about your thoughts and feelings. I hope that you
feel it out and work it out.

I will follow this advice. You guys are right.

Just goes to show me that you guys obviously care more about me than this person does. That's how bad this is.

Ialso say wait and and cool off. Any thing said in anger cannot be unspoken and may well hurt the person it is said to.

Wait a couple of more days until you calm down. If the person still won't answer the telephone, then it is probably for a reason. If you feel you really need to talk to this person, then go over to their house and do it in person. But, only once some of the anger is gone. Because yelling and getting upset usually never solves anything.

If it's someone you care about, don't vent while you're still angry. Let things cool down. If after you're cool, you still feel that you've been wronged, THEN it's probably okay to let them know what they did to you and how you felt about it, but you'll be much less likely to say or do something you will regret.
