(3/10/07 - WELLINGTON, New Zealand) - A middle-aged New Zealand woman rang police to report a theft of cannabis plants she had been growing at her North Island home, local media reported.
The crying woman told a constable at the police station in the city of Napier the plant theft was the fourth from her property in as many years. The 45-year-old woman, who was not named, lamented someone had again sneaked on to her property at night to steal her three carefully nurtured marijuana plants.
"I am a good person. I am sick of these low-lifes stealing my things," the woman told a police communications officer.
Senior Sergeant Mal Lochrie told local media Friday that the officer found it hard to stop smiling as the women gave details of the theft over the phone.
A community constable who visited her to take details of the theft had also warned her that her horticultural pursuits could have legal consequences, Lochrie said.
Police decided no action would be taken against the gardener, he said

The police should keep an eye on her because it's very likely she will try to cultivate the illegal plants again. Maybe she will lead the police to the main distributors. If she was stupid enough to call the police, I think she will be stupid enough to lead them to the main guys.

LOL, I don't think there are no main guys. She is growing her own, and with only 3 plants I doubt she is selling it, thats probably about enough to keep her in supply. Some teenagers found out what she was doing and got some free weed.

She does have some balls to call the cops though.

Going a bit off topic, what happens when police come across pot growing in the wild? I hope they don't kill it. I'm not advocating legalising the use of pot but I believe God put every plant on this earth for a purpose. Diminishing biodiversity is becoming a major issue worldwide.

They'd have to destroy a lot of mushrooms too.
This reminds me of something which happenend to me when I was 7. I found a small plastic bag with a few seeds and decided that it would be fun to put them in a bowl of earth and see what kind of plant it would become. You should have seen the looks on my parents faces when the first leaves appeared.

I'm always amused when governments are stupid enough to try to ban completely natural wild-growing substances. Good luck!

Are you referring to "ditch weed" I doubt they would worry about that because well, it is not all that potent and not worth the illegal effort of anyone.
In India and other places it grows alongside the road. I do not think it grows wild here in the United States except for ditch weed. If authorities find this plant in the woods nine times out of ten it is being manufactured.

When my grandfather was alive, I used to go to his house on Sunday after church and spend some time with him just sitting on his back porch "chewing the fat" as he used to call it. One Sunday as we sat there talking, I happened to notice a beautiful plant growing in his back window. On closer examination I realized that it was indeed pot. Now Pap was in his 80's and had been a city councilman in his younger years and didn't lie, steal or cheat and would never break a law (or so I thought). I said "Pap, you do know that plant is illegal, don't you?" "Yep", he said. "I was at the local pub and swapped some of my heirloom tomatoes for some seeds." I asked him what he was going to do with it. His response was that he was going to grow it, dry it and smoke it!!!!!
He gave me a quick wink and said "Do ya think they'll arrest me?"

How is anyone going to make a profit off of something which anyone can make?

ROFL! Similar story; my aunt's MIL lived waaaay out in the country by a river and had an empty flower pot that something started growing in one spring and by summer it was huge; she liked the way it looked so she just left it there. Her daughter came home for a visit and told her it was a pot plant. We were all ROFL because she was the sweetest, most innocent woman - her husband had been a minister for 40+ years, she tutored kids at the grade school, and she had no clue she was watering an illegal plant all summer long.

I think if its growing wild and there is no evidence of anyone tending the plants they probably let them be.

Ditch weed, which is a holdover from the time during WWII when the US Government had farmers grow Hemp for use in making rope for lines on ships is extremely prevalent in the middle US particularly the Corn Belt. What happened was that the birds would eat the seeds and they would get scattered all over and the plants became established and now when you drive through states like MO in the Summer you see wild Pot growing along the roadside in profusion.
