About two weeks ago, someone dropped off a tea cup Pom (black) at my job. Well, being who I am and the way animals do me (lol) I scooped her up and brought her home. She was skin and bones. She was full of fleas, dirty ears, matted coat. So, I bathed her, brushed her and she looked like a million bucks. I started feeding her some prescription food and giving her prescription vitamins. She started plumping up, a bit too much. I took her to my vet only to be told she was pregnant. She had her puppies premature last night. She had 3. One was stillborn and the other just died a few minutes ago. I have been feeding that puppy every two hours and she was just too weak. Abbey (Pom) was so malnourished that she did not produce much milk. So, I have to add some stuff to her food to get her to produce the milk. It must be working because the only puppy left is nursing. Thank goodness.

I just do not understand WHY people do things like this. It is the dog's fault she got pregnant? Not to mention her health was poor.

The Pom will never really know how lucky she was to have been found by you! ;)

Post pictures when you get a chance! My neighbors have two males and they are so adorable. :)

Hey Linda - have you tried goat's milk? A similar situation happened to a friend of mine years ago. The mom rottie was too young (an accidental hookup at the breeder's location no less) and a psycho to boot. Mom rottie decided she didn't want to be a mom, and killed 2 of the pups right off the bat. Donna had to leave work twice a day to feed the remaining pups, and they all made it. I recall she wiped out every nearby grocery store's inventory of goat's milk within 2 weeks, and one store special ordered a large supply of it for her. Hope both mom and pup do OK now. Great job!

Linda, you say "tea cup" pom? I'm picturing a very tiny pooch! Would love to see pictures!!!

I just do not understand WHY people do things like this.

I think people who treat animals like this ought to be hung by their toes over a lion's den. Image

That is what I bought about an hour ago. The little pup is actually nursing the bottle. The Mom is not too happy either. The one that died was so weak but I really tried with him. I am still feeding her the supplement for her milk and I actually can squeeze a bit out now. whew! So, me and the Mom feed the pup. :D Abbey was so distraught over the first puppy she kept trying to drag my 9 week old Maltese puppy into "her space" Emmy wanted no part of it though. Gosh that was sad watching her go through that!

Hey Steph, I think it is a big conspiracy.

Yes Bobbie, she is teeny tiny. If and when I ever figure this digital camera out and can download them I will.
