Actually, the last regular show airs in Mid-June. This is the last Primetime MDS though(a look back type thing airs tomorrow). It's airing now because it's sweeps.

So far, not impressed. 3 losses in a row.

Barker's Final 'Price' Right for Primetime
Episode will air in daytime and in primetime

May 23, 2007

After months of suspense, we finally know when Bob Barker's final episode of "The Price Is Right" will air.

CBS announced on Wednesday (May 23) that Barker's 35-year tenure on "The Price Is Right" will conclude with an episode set for Friday, June 15.

Likely to tape at least a week before, Barker's final "Prince" will show first in the game show's regular daytime slot (11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT) and will then get an encore showing that night in primetime, showing at 8 p.m. and leading directly into CBS' telecast of the 34th Annual Daytime Emmys, a ceremony that will see Barker up for two awards to add to an already hefty pile.

After a number of previous hosting gigs, including "Truth and Consequences," Barker began hosting "The Price Is Right" on Sept. 4, 1972. In his time as host, Barker earned 13 individual Emmys and three Emmys as one of the show's producers. He received a Daytime Television Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 1999 and was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in June 2004.

Although he's ready to go off into the sunset, Barker's ratings might is still impressive. This past week a pair of specials dedicated to his retirement -- one a "Price Is Right Million Dollar Spectacular" and the other a retrospective of his TV tenure -- averaged roughly 14 million viewers apiece and ranked among the Top 11 most watched shows for the frame.

Barker's last day on 'Price is Right'
Legendary host ends 35-year run
By STUART LEVINE
Bob Barker has called his last Showcase Showdown.

Barker ended his 35-year run hosting "The Price Is Right" Wednesday afternoon at CBS Television City in Los Angeles in the same manner that has made him a TV icon: greeting frenzied contestants, giving away cars and making everyone who makes it up on stage feel like a celebrity.

After whipping the crowd into a frenzy before the 2:30 p.m. taping, announcer Rich Fields introduced Barker to his faithful devotees, most of whom had been waiting for days and had slept overnight on Fairfax Avenue for a chance to witness the show in person.

The six games played were longtime "Price" staples, including Grocery Game – in which taping had to be stopped because of a prop malfunction -- Lucky Seven, Range Game, Any Number and, of course, fan favorite Plinko. Nearly all the nine contestants chosen to participate in the last show were in utter delirium upon making to Contestant's Row. One fell down in route.

The last contestant to make it on stage before the Showcase Showdown had waited for five days in line.

During the first bid, where a bigscreen TV was the prize up for grabs, an image of a young Barker hosting "Price" felt like an appropriate homage to the gameshow icon, for which Stage 33 is named in his honor.

As the show came to end, Barker signed off by saying, "I want to thank you very much for inviting me into your homes for the past 50 years. I'm deeply grateful." And as he normally ends each show, he reminded viewers to get their pets spayed and neutered.

The final show will be aired on CBS in both its normal daytime slot and in primetime on June 15.

My grandma too. She passed away in August of 2005. She would watch "Bob" everyday @ 11AM, then the local news @ 12PM, then her soap operas all afternoon.... then she would doze until the local 6pm news, then it was time for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy... then it was to the GSN for shows like, "Who wants to be a Millionaire, Match game reruns, Family Fued reruns". I do recall she hated "Dog eat Dog and Weakest Link". She also watched the national news often as well and some preaching on TV. When you are confined to the bed for 9 years, there is not much else to do, but to read and her eyes were too bad for that. She did have her gospel singing tapes she also listened to.

She really liked Bob though.

I may have missed it, but I have been wondering... will she show go on with another host? I remember back in the mid to late 80s that Bob was away for awhile and someone else hosted the show..... just wondering of the show itself will stop. It would be a shame, as it has been so successful. It will not be the same without Bob though, thats for sure.
