Elliptical Trainers

Does anyone have one?
Are you pleased with the results?

We went out looking at exercise equipment this weekend. I tried a treadmill and it would seem like it would be hard on the knees. I tried a couple different elliptical machines and it seems that you would get a really good workout on those. I just hate plunking down that kinda money.
This is the one I liked the most.....

Any thoughts?

We own one and I really like it. It's a good aerobic workout, without the joint impact of running.

IMO, when it comes to an elliptical machine there is no impact on the ground so its better on your joints. Elliptical machines also give you a total body workout because it has handlebars which work your upper body at the same time. I work out quite a bit and I prefer the elliptical machine, but I do try to use a treadmill too so I don't get bored.

Check out the selection at your local Sears. We paid similar money for ours, and it looks much more substantial than the one you linked to.

Dizzyfish, I've been thinking about getting one too. Let me know if you find out anything interesting.

Found out something that I didn't know when we looked this weekend.
Different manufacturers have different spacing between the foot "pedals".
You will have to try different ones to see which one works best for you.
One I tried seemed to have them spaced too far apart - probably would work o.k. for a man but wouldn't work for me.

I'll let you know what I see at Sears when I get a chance to go check them out. We have a place called Play It Again Sports that sells new and used equipment. If you can find a place like that you can try different brands and see what works for you.
