Looking at who is online it shows a yahoo bot an dgoogle bot. what is a bot from these places?

The various search engines have software that follow links all over the internet and catalog what they find. That's what those bots are.

Basically that is correct. That is part of the way that the search engines "find" different sites when you use them looking for something.
