Well, I did it...put in my app. with ABQ NM PD!

Well...I did it, I put my application in with the Albuequrque Police Dept, also the Santa Fe PD, Taos PD and the New Mexico DPS. Now it's sit and wait!
It's TIME for a move, I've lived in hickville TOO long, I need a CHANGE!

For the life of me I cannot understand why anyone would want to be in law enforcement? The pay isn't nearly what it should be.....the working conditions are horrible. People will shoot at you. Nobody calls 911 because they are having a good time......something bad is always happening.
Right after I got out of the Army.....I spent a year with ADF&G (Alaska Dept of Fish and Game).....ya know the "dream job".....it was miserable. Everyone we had to deal with was armed and half of them were drunk. I finished my season at Montana Creek and turned in my service revolver. Never again.
I have a brother in law that spent 20 years with the Jackson, Mississippi PD.....6 years in vice. During his last several years before retirement he had to carry his back up piece full time....even off duty. He couldn't stand the job towards the end.
It must be the perks that attracts people into law enforcement.....you get to deal with crackheads, sex offenders, drunks, professional criminals, punk gangsters with guns.....!!!

Snowman, with all due respect, your Hickville is a beautiful place in all four seasons! But, I do understand the need to move on. I did it when I went through my mid-life crisis at 50! And here I am, been down here living with the desert dwellers!

good luck! it's a buyer's market for houses here but none of the ones that are habitable are cheap! (not incredibly affordable on a PD salary either...)
