I am SO fookin' GLAD that yesterday is GONE...it was WITHOUT a DOUBT one of the WORST days I've had in EONS

Were to start...I had to investigate 4 out of 7 non injury accidents within a 3 hour period (idiots from Phoenix), then, the animal control officer was off, some IDIOT trapped a skunk in his own trap and wanted it hauled off...we said NO, the chief interveined and said yes!! SO...my sargent and I respond, throw a blanket over the SOB, drove to the woods to dump it's stinky azz and YUP....you guessed it, we BOTH got hosed by the f'n skunk !! I drive home doing 2x's the speed limit cuz I can't stand the smell of myself or my unit, get home, get out of unit in a hurry, slammed the car door WITH my index finger still on the door frame....my wife called 911 cuz I BROKE the entire tip of my index finger, cut it to the BONE (I damn near passed out from the pain plus seeing the BONE!) ....1 hour and 6 stitches LATER, go home, load up on pain meds , hour later, PAGER goes off...the chief was involved in a 3 car injury accident and THEN.....the tragic news of the 2 helicopters from Channel 3 and Channel 15 in Phoenix crash, all four killed, of which I met ALL four personally last year during a wildland fire....truly a f'd DAY!!

WOW!! jump in the tub, turn off your pager and phone and take a day off! I think you deserve it.

Not for the weak of heart!!! And now this morning, the tip that broke is CROOKED as all get out and they CANNOT straighten it

Did you really have to show us your finger Dennis? That looks nasty and I'll bet it hurts like the very dickens. Bet you forgot all about your foot for a while though huh? lol

Seriously, that sounds like the day from hell. Maybe we should sticky this so when WE think we had a bad day we can reflect on yours.

Hope your finger gets to feeling better soon. Maybe after it has had a chance to heal some and the swelling goes down it won't be so crooked.

Boy that sounds like you really had a BAAAAD day. I am sorry to hear that you hurt your finger so badly but maybe it will take your mind of your foot that is hurting. I have heard that lemon juice will remove the skunk smell.

what a horrible day for u! geez, and then to hurt your finger, the pain must have been excruciating.

Wow man...hope your day today is better, a speedy recovery and hope the chief is alright. I heard about the choppers yesterday, very sad indeed. First time I recall ever hearing anything like that

I know that tomato juice works to get the skunk smell out 'cause when I had the horse farm in Texas, we had one sneak into the barn and I got sprayed a little bit as he was running out in a panic!

Wow, what a day. My Father-in-law is a butcher, he cut the tip of one finger clean off about 20 years ago.

Like many of us, you deserve a day of rest and relaxation.

That would be a lot for a year, Dennis! Let's hope that you don't have another day like that again. You need to unwind a bit. I hope that you get a chance.

BTW, I didn't look at the full size photo of your finger. The small one was enough for me. I don't like blood and guts.

I smashed my finger in a car door when I was about 12. The door actually latched with my finger in it. There wasn't a cut, but it smashed the meat through my nail, and my right index finger is still wider than the left. I feel for you...that's horrible pain.

I second the tomato juice remedy for skunk. The Mythbusters proved that it works. It takes a good bit of juice, however.

That helicopter accident was an awful tragedy.

You should name the thread "So you think you had a bad day?". That must have been horrible to go through a day such as that. You must have felt like dying after that.

went back to the Urgent Care today to have xrays and the stitches removed and got some MORE bad news!! I have to schedule an appt. with a orthopedic surg. on Monday....the xray last week did not show the extent of the damage but todays did! The tip of the finger is totally splintered and I need surg. to fix it....I at least got MORE pain meds today, oxcycodone!

YAY!!! Someone to be all mush brained with me and my Vicodin!!!

I hope that they get you fixed up in a jiffy and you get to feeling better REAL SOON!!!!
