Please pray for me on some things

First off, I quit my job today, so that has affected me a lot. It has, for one; relieved a lot of the stress that I was once under. Two, it now means that I have to look for a new job around the week of the 11th. I am taking a week to collect my thoughts, then I will go looking again. This past job was an either "quit or be fired" type of situation. That's what it had boiled down to.

Second, I was told by my doctor that I can be taken off of four of my medications if I lose 36 pounds. :D :D :D So yesterday I joined 24 Hour Fitness. I work out four times a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Each day I do an hour's worth of exercise; and each day I will alternate between upper body and lower body exercises. Pray for me that the 36 lbs can melt away!

That's all that I can think of for now. ;)

You got it Josh! If you're going to be working out 4 times a week, I'm sure you will lose weight....and get stronger in the process. :D

I'm sorry to hear about your job situation. Hopefully you'll find an even better job!

WHOA, there! Four times a week? :o

That's a little heavy, you know...the former Russian Spetsnaz (Special Assignment Forces) trainer (and current USMC trainer), Pavel Tsatsouline states that American strength training is "wrong-headed", and that the best thing one can do for muscle development and weight loss is "REST four days, work out three" between "iron-pumping", and concentrate more on stretching ligaments and joints than on muscle mass.

Tsatsouline is one of the very few Russians accorded the rank of "Master Sportsman", granted only to "super-athletes", and his "proven" theories are worth taking into account. :larrow:

I have his book, "Power to the People", and I think it would be a good bet for you, too. :D

Josh - you know you're always going to be in my prayers. Good for you for taking the steps you need to in order to stay healthy mentally and physically! Good luck finding another job!

As Bill said though, take it slow at first with the exercise. You don't want to burn yourself out and injure yourself in the process. Weight loss is only maintained if you lose the weight slowly.

Way to go Josh!! You are looking out for No. one-YOU!-both mentally and physically. That is so important!! The prayers are flowing as I type, and will be as I pray for each of my internet friends each night.

Thanks everyone for your prayers :D . I had loads of fun today on my out-of-town excursion, hence why I didn't get here until now. ;) Details will come later.

My prayers are with you...just remember-don't give up! Do some things that are fun to help you lose weight...park your car in the back, most inconvinient parking spaces-you'll get a good walk.

Joshua... best of luck to you in finding a new job and also in losing weight. Stay positive -- also, if you can find someone else to exercise with it seems to make it easier. I am sure you can do it yourself, but it is just a suggestion. :)

Joshua - of course I'll pray for you too! That goes without asking. I read your topic yesterday, started the prayers going but had to log off quick, so no reply from me (had a wedding to attend). So sorry to hear about your former job - that situation sounded awful. Quit or be canned. Well, maybe it's a darn good thing you're out of there anyway. As someone said, when one door closes, another one opens. That is so true. It's happened personally in my life several times. Your exercise program sounds as if you're well on your way. Wishing you only the best!

I weighed in this morning. 234 lbs. :D That is progress! :) Was 236 on Thursday so all this may be paying off already. ;)
