Death in the Family

On Sat Aug 4 at around 4:00 am my grandmother passed away in her sleep She was 94 years old. She is survived by her two sons Carroll and Douglas Parker. My mother was her oldest child but she passed away before her mother. She had lost two daughters before my mother. She left 14 grandchildren and over 20 great grandchildren.

I have a photo that was taken when my mother was still alive that shows, my grandmother, my mother, me, my daughter, and my first grandchild. Five generations in one room.

I was not very close to my grandmother since she showed favoritism to my cousins and their children. I will show up at the viewing Tues and at the Funeral on Wed but I will not shed many tears.

My condolences regardless. Death is a unhappy time. I wish you well.

Still it being your mother's mom I am sure it is not easy. I am sorry and it hurts when favoritism like that happens.

Sorry to hear that. My condolence to you and your family. At least she died peacefully in her sleep.

Though the circumstances of your relationship were not the best I applaud you for showing your respects. BTDT, with my fathers mother. Many prayers going out for you and your family nonetheless.

Thank you all for the replies. After I became an adult I realized that she was like that and so I did not expose my children to her except at family get togethers at holiday times. Since my children are now grown and working at jobs that may not give them the time off to go to their great grandmother's funeral, it is up to me to be there to represent my family.

Thank you Petal Pusher. It is not something that I want to do but I know if I don't I won't hear the end of it from my oldest sister who was close to Grannie. So I will go and show my respects but I can not cry for her.
