What is absolutely disgusting is what Michael Vick did to those dogs......CNN is reporting "hanging and drowning pit bulls that would not fight".....and supposedly Vick was to plead guilty today.....monday 8/20.....on federal conspiracy charges. His attorneys are trying to get him a deal......the judge will decide.

What do you do with sick people like this.....? We have people here in Mississippi that fight dogs. It seems that criminal activity other than just cruelty to animals comes with the turf.

I think a ban from professional sports and 3 years in prison is an appropriate sentence.

Oh, dogfights usually have other illegal activities at them. Drugs, weapons, prostitution, etc. And some spectators bring their children to watch!

Dogfighters will do some of the most horrific things to pitbulls. I often wonder who the monsters are: Pitbulls or people.

Pitbulls are one of the most abused breeds of dogs.

NFL has "indefinetely" suspended Vick and the Falcons may go after some of the 22 million in sign on money. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!!!!!

CNN reports that Whoopi Goldberg is now coming to Vicks defense. Something along the lines that dog fighting is acceptable in the south........I am so disappointed. She must be on crack!

Whoopi's comments bordered on insanity. I hope she's not trying to just be controversial like Rosie to get ratings for The View. The thing Rosie had going for her is that half of the country agreed with her on most of the stuff. Whoopi's supporters on this issue will be few and far between.

That just burns my butt!!!! I hope he has to pay big for that, killing of innocent animals is unacceptable! And Whoopi is off her rocker to defend that. Dog fighting is one thing, but killing animals because they didn't live up to Vicks, or anybodys, fighting expectations is another horrible thing all on its own.

While I think Dogfighting is extremely cruel and immoral, I do understand what Whoopi is saying. In some areas especially far out in the country like where I used to live, dogfighting is seen as a regular event and no one really makes a big deal about it. I remember being in high school and hearing about these events on my bus. Once again I am NOT defending it, but I know in some places it is seen as acceptable.

I know a guy (sub's sheetrock for me) here in south Mississippi that thinks like you do....that dog fighting has been going on for years and it's recreation. He lives in a rural area. He's got shoulder length hair, but he's bald on top. Half of his teeth missing and the other half are racing to leave. Collects junk cars and dogs. He grows and sells marijauna. He's a full time Budweiser drinker. We talked about Vick. He told me that you never see both blacks and whites at dog fights. There is a color issue. He also told me that they never fight dogs here in Mississippi.....they go over into Louisiana. In Louisiana chicken fighting is legal.... dog fighting and chicken fighting go hand in hand. He tells me he has NEVER seen anyone intentionally kill dogs. They have people that treat injured dogs after fights. He did say that large amounts of money changes hands at fights. He explained in great detail how they handle the security of not getting caught. I was amazed. Dog fighting is just a part of larger illegal activities where anything can happen.

Makes me wonder just how involved Vick became? Was copping to a plea of dog fighting a method to avoid prosecution for "other" activities?
