....but there is a cut-off date for eligibilty. My son was born in April of 86, and we don't get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A lot of people with 17 year olds, are going to be very surprised when they don't get that $400 check they were counting on.

I have already found out that info about the 17 year olds. If you have a 17 year old born before 1987, then you are outta luck.
But just remember that some folks who desperately need it will not be getting anything. So I do not complain.

I'm not complaining......but I could use that money right about now, and it wouldn't be to buy an 8ball.
Now Linda....you're not suggesting that the lower income bracket that already has tax relief built into the code should receive this, and are entitled to it anymore than you or me?

Reminder - keep this a friendly debate - OKAY.

??? I wasn't trying to be unfriendly. Linda knows I'm not like that.

just a footnote:
My intentions for the refund "were" to immediately put it back into the economy..which is what the Feds are hoping people do with it. A jump start...a kick in the butt to the economy.
My 8 ball comment was not meant to offend anybody....but it's no secret that a certain percentage of lower income families don't pay any taxes to begin with, and for the government to give them a $400/child credit, when you know they will run right out to their favorite dealer and blow it all, would rub me the wrong way.

While I agree that in this case lower income familes are not entitled to the tax credit, there are just as many "taxpayers" that will go the 8-ball route. Let's keep this on topic... ok?
I actually got my credit last week and did my part for the economy. We spent it on the boat!

Course if you move....

Ha! All this time I am wondering...hmm where's the darn check. Just dawned on me I MOVED TO A NEW ADDRESS. IRS sends it; postal delivers it; person sends it back to postal; postal sends it to IRS....Probably take six months to reach me now.

8-balls? I didn't realize that there were so many serious pool players out there.
Marshall, I thought you'd be buying a couple cases of golf balls.

Mine was supposedly sent out for my daughter on August 1st. I plan on spending it on school clothes. She is, afterall, the reason I am able to receive a rebate. So it will go to her. So, I guess I will be spending the money in a retail store. lol. Which IMO serves the purpose for the rebate check.

You can fix that right quick though. Go to the post office and put in for a change of address. It is real simple.

CZonian is a programmer from my office. My the time he designs the "change of address", develops the code, test the code and then fixes the bugs he'll already have his check
(Just kidding Jerry!

)
Done that...

There were many days over the years (and even now that they are grown) when I felt someone should pay me for the challenge that rearing kids brings. There were times I wanted to turn them in for a rebate, too!
I think it would be a wise investment to put the funds into an account for a mom and dad trip...without the kids. How does that sound?

Although "coppertop" was born in 1988, we don't qualify for it; not enough "earned income".
God knows we could use it...
