I wanted to create something special for those who lost their lives on that horrible day. So starting today, the 7th of September, I will be adding one plane's list of passengers' names to the thread each day.

God Bless all of those that perished, their families and the rescue/recovery workers that are now having health issues of their own.

ONE
As the soot and dirt and ash rained down, we became one color.

As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning buildings, we became one class.

As we lit candles of waiting and hope,
we became one generation.

As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno, we became one gender.

As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength, we became one faith.

As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement, we spoke one language.

As we gave our blood in lines a mile long, we became one body.

As we mourned together the great loss,
we became one family.

As we cried tears of grief and loss,
we became one soul.

As we retell with pride the sacrifice of heroes, we become one people.

We are...
ONE Color
ONE Class
ONE Generation
ONE Gender
ONE Faith
ONE Language
ONE Body
ONE Family
ONE Soul
ONE People

We are the power of ONE.
We are United.
We are America.

Hard to believe it's been SIX years. I remember the day like it was yesterday. It started my interest in current events which still continues today(though I'm not quite as interested as I used to be, mostly due to the slow news cycle of late).

Anyway... never forget.

Well, as much as I want to list the rest of the victims to honour them, there just simply is too many. So here is the list on another site:
http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/memorial/index.html

Here is an excellent site, make sure you listen to the music on the first page, and there is 5 or 6 pages:

I was hoping that you'd put the Pentagon victims. A friend of mines twin brother was killed in the Pentagon.

The philosopher Santyana once said, "those that do not remember their history will be forever condemned to repeat it." Today, marks so much more that the peak of a hurricane season. As we go through this day we should all remember that. God Bless the dearly departed, God Bless all those that serve in harms way to defend our sacred liberties and God Bless The United States of America. :flag:

Good evening. Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes, or in their offices; secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers; moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.

The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; our country is strong.

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America -- with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.

[...]

I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance.

America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world, and we stand together to win the war against terrorism. Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me."

This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day. Yet, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Thank you. Good night, and God bless America.
George W. Bush, President, United States of America, September 11, 2001

Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's You'll Never Walk Alone, from the musical Carousel:

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
Don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark

Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
For your dreams be tossed, and blown

Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And You'll Never Walk Alone
You'll Never Walk Alone

The whole world continues to remember the fallen with the United States and the victims' families, even six years on. RIP to the 2,974.

Just a poem I wrote this morning at about 9:30, take it for what it is worth:

this is the hour
six years ago
that the soldier was shaken
hat America united as one
That terrorists tried to shake our faith
That Americans in peril became unified as one. (originally-that the war against America began)

Today the Star Spangled Banner does wave stronger than ever before,
over this land of the free and over those that are brave waiting to come home.

And while we remember the dead, let's also be sure to remember the living - and the future generations of our country. Surely - albeit unfortunately - 09/11/01 was neither the only nor the last time our homeland will be attacked. We must remain ever vigilant and hope and pray those leading our country completely and truly understand what's at stake. There is nothing more important to our culture and our way of life than our absolute safety and unconditional security. Without that, little else matters.....

Never forget the past - but always look forward.
