I suppose that's good news for Jack Daniels...even when I WAS drinking (21 years back), I didn't care much for Bourbon.

Did they ask the on-air reporter to say that headline 5 times, very fast? But seriously, the lightning in some places was very bad yesterday. It even caused them to stop played the Hall of Fame game in Canton, OH between the Packers and the Chiefs. :o

From the JB website:

Jim Beam Warehouse Fire Won't Disrupt Bourbon Production or Bottling

Deerfield, Ill., August 5, 2003-Jim Beam Brands today announced that the fire that destroyed one of its numerous warehouses in Bardstown, KY (Warehouse B) will have no adverse impact on the company's production.

"The fire affected less than 2% of our aging bourbon inventory," said Rich Reese, CEO and President, Jim Beam Brands Worldwide. "As the world's largest bourbon producer we can replace this relatively new bourbon with 12 days of extra production. The loss of this warehouse won't disrupt our bourbon production or bottling and will not impact our long term business in any way."

"We commend the local fire departments and authorities for their immediate response and heroic efforts to minimize the damage caused by the fire," adds Reese.

Warehouse B, holding 19,000 barrels, was one of 64 warehouses in six locations owned by Jim Beam. All initial indications suggest that the fire was caused by lightning, but officials have not yet released a final determination.

I was wondering if Bourbon will burn. Does anyone know: At what proof does liquor have enough alcohol to burn?
