Which format do you use for watching movies, DVD or VCR? I've got a VCR...don't think I'll ever own a DVD player, I can't justify spending that kinda money for something I don't watch! Heck....I just got rid of my 8 track player and went to cassettes

J/K......I've had a CD for about 2 years now.

Finally last Christmas we bought a DVD player only after the prices went down. I still have a VCR - I own too many VHS movies and I like watching them ......
I own about 10 DVD movies.
Buying VHS is getting harder and harder now days with the newest releases.

I bought my first CD player less than two years ago...and have no plans to purchase a DVD player anytime soon. I'm perfectly watching movies on the VCR (which I use mostly to tape storm footage, radars, etc off television & the internet).

I have both, only because my best friend bought me a DVD player for Christmas last year.
I tape ALOT of stuff so I'll still use my VCR for years to come...or until they create a DVD recorder that can be used to record broadcasts off TV. I know they have one that can record and backup VHS tapes, but I'll wait.

Both. We've gone through many VCR machines and have a ton of homemade tapes. We got an x-box for the kids for christmas thinking it was just a game. Our christmas present was that it also plays CD's and DVD's. Cool Beans.

We have both VCR and DVD players in the house. Like almost everyone else that has posted the VCR will stay as long as we have home-made movies to watch. As soon as a cost effective DVD recordable comes out the days of the VCR are numbered

We have a VCR here, my parents watch movies on it sometimes. When I lived in Massachusetts (before I had daily internet access) I used to record segments of The Weather Channel, to calculate the movement of storm systems, especially on radar. Now, I have been doing so from internet websites.
I am not sure if I will ever have access to a DVD. I assume maybe some day.

We have both a VCR and DVD player. The reason we broke down and bought a DVD player is because we found one that would allow us to view pictures from a CD (we have stored a bunch of our digital camera pics on CD). And the price was right (@ $100). But we primarily use the VCR for watching movies, as well as for watching TV programs that we taped.

We're on our 4th or 5th VCR right now. I wear them out! First one I bought in '84, cost $550, brand-new. That's not a typo! Last one cost around $100.
We've had a DVD player for about 2 years. For all rentals we prefer DVD - extra footage, outtakes, etc. If DVD's are checked out, we'll settle for VHS, but I hear about when I get home. LOL When buying movies (we occasionally purchase them), we only buy DVD now.
Dennis - I sold my 1980 Honda Civic around 1993. It had only 90,000 miles on it and was in great shape. And it had an 8 Track Player too!!!! I think I even had some tapes I threw in with the sale.
Now I hear Tyvo (sp?) is the way to go, for taping capabilities. I used to tape all sorts of shows, even TWC if I knew a certain segment would be on. Now I find I don't have a lot of time to watch TV, so my taping has gone way down.

actually two VCRs as I need them for editting my storm videos into annual higlights tapes. I also have have loads of movies in both formats though I tend to go DVD now. DVD goes better with my sound system as a general rule.

DVD right now...I like it better than the VCR except that it now takes three remotes just to set it up. So if we want to watch a movie at 7, I have to come home from work at 4 just so I have time to get it all functional.
VCR was worse, believe it or not.
