In Canada, Sunday November 11 is REMEMBRANCE DAY
Remembering Canadians Who Fought and Died in War
On November 11 Canadians wear poppies and gather at war memorials across Canada to pay tribute to those who died in war. At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the time the Armistice of World War I was signed in 1918, we observe two minutes of silence to remember.
As we continue to fight the war on terrorism, it is important to remember and teach about the wars in which so many Canadians died, and men and women of other nations as well.
We salute all the brave people that continue to fight for what we all believe in.

Armistice Day, commemorated by the Commonwealth countries (as Remembrance Day or Poppy Day in Australia, Canada, Britain, Malta and South Africa) around the world as well as France. Only in the U.S. is it Veterans Day (the name was changed after the second world war to include remembering those in WWII), strictly speaking Armistice Day is about WWI.

My salutes go out all those who are serving in Afganistan and Iraq, and to those who have served in the past. My Step Dad is a veteran of Afganistan, and I have numerous other relatives, most of which are now deceased, who served in WWII, Vietnam, and Korea.

My great-great-uncle served in WW1. He died of food poisoning, which by all accounts was just as much of a risk of enemy fire.

Well put. The rest of the world is amazed at our ability to diagree over policy and still have a stable government while having a military that does what it is told to do no matter what.
