A sure sign that winter (such as it is down here) is fast approaching:

Since yesterday I've seen a Red-tailed Hawk, two Red-shouldered Hawks, a Peregrine Falcon (pretty sure, but not definite - it was a glancing look only) and a handful of Kestrels.

My favorite kind of birds to watch. :-)

We saw a hawk landing on a fence gate behind our house last week. I also have a shot of the hawk on a neighbor's TV antenna eating a squirrel he had caught that I took with the camera on my cell phone.

We have had several beautiful finches in our yard lately. They are fun to watch.

Awhile back I saw a red tail hawk circling on the back side of our property. The hawk went into a dive and snagged a squirrel out of one of our large pecan trees. The hawk made a clean sweep. Dinner is served.
