I must confess mine went up this afternoon. Many years ago I got tired of having to take down and put away all the decorations by myself after the girls had gone back to school. Consequently, I made an executive decision. The tree could go up as early as the day after Thanksgiving but all Christmas decorations must be taken down and put away before New Year's Eve.

Yesterday would have been my 49th wedding anniversary (divorced but still friends) which means I have put up 48 trees since I married. Not one of those trees has been the same. Always different themes, different colors, different decorations. This years tree has a Mardi Gras theme. I made twenty different masks and used purple, gold and green beads and ornaments on a white tree. The kids (grown) decorated it for me this afternoon. The theme and decorations were a surprise for them this year. My granddaughter and I managed to keep it a secret.

Well, I usually have it up yesterday, but now it looks like it will be tomorrow. I have 4 small trees up so far, with the big one yet to go up.

I put mine up this afternoon too. Looks great with all the lights and ornaments.

Mine will be taken down probably like the last few years the day after Christmas. To me, once Christmas is over, it's over.

Not for a few weeks yet since it will be a real tree.

My scheme is usually the same. I have a lot of different ornaments, glass balls, Lenox, hand crafted, etc. I can't put them all on, but I do have favorites. I usually use multicolored lights and accent the tree with red bows.

I put mine up this morning, still putting the decorations up. Mine goes right in front of the window for the neighbors to see.

I usually put the tree up Thanksgiving weekend. But with Thanksgiving falling early this year I've decided to wait until next weekend. I usually take it down with regret around New Years.

Steph...I use the multicolored lights too! I also use the multicolored lights outside too. I string the top part of my crepe myrtles in the colored lights, the stalks in solid green and white on the ground to resemble snow.

In the evening, I love to turn off all the other lights, take off my glasses and look at the tree. Being nearsighted, the lights are all blurry and fuzzy but so soft looking.

Tree is put together but still needs to be shaped and decorated. usually I try the weekend before Thanksgiving, but time is bad this year so I'm late.

I do too. It's almost like staring at a fireplace or the ocean for me. It's relaxing and magical.

Our tree will not go up until two weeks before Christmas . I can't have it up with out it being destroyed by grandson so I have it up only a very short time and it gets taken down before Jan 1.This year my hubby and I will be down on Big Pine Key in the FL Keys spending Christmas with our youngest son and his family. My daughter, grandson and oldest son are staying here. Grandson will be at his dad's part of the day and Daughter never stays home on Christmas any way. Oldest son always goes over to friends house. This year it will be a break from the fuss with daughter's ex about when he gets his son.

It's already up since this evening. It will be up until January 6, "El Dia de los Reyes Magos," the day of the Wise Men. In the Hispanic culture there is no Santa Claus, but we have the Wise Men that perform the same thing. In the United States we have acculturated and now we celebrate both events. Nonetheless, now the gifts come in Christmas and not on January 6, but only because it's earlier!!!

That's when my parents take our tree down to, but for different reasons. It's the Epiphany and it's traditional in their church (Episcopal) to take it down that day.

I'm not religious, but I do love the Christmas season!

It went up this evening. It has an angel theme, but we do have many different types of ornaments on it including each family member has a beautiful white ball with their name on it hanging on the tree. We have to add another one this year since we now have a son-in-law.

Usually the day after Thanksgiving until New Years Day. I spent the day decorating and doing the Christmas cards while listening to Garth Brooks.

Our tree's going up the first week of December. And then it goes down sometime in January.

I try to hold off until at least December, don't always make it though LOL

Never, since I live in an apartment and can't really be bothered to put a tree up and decorate it. I like looking at others' decorations instead.

I always blamed it on my astigmatism! lol Christmas lights and fireworks are just gorgeous! Glad to see others that understand! lol

Tree went up today, outside lights go up tomorrow as does our Christmas village.

No tree at streetsoldier's this year.

Two weeks from now, we go out and buy a fairly large (7 or 8 foot, with the stand) tree from a place way out in the North-western corner of Virginia. We have an ornament collection that is mostly comprised of either antiques, colorful balls that have been purchased within the decade, or handmade little trinkets you get from those family-owned Christmas shops (at least, we have them down in Alexandria). We don't have colored lights, but that's only because they seem to look really ugly to me. So instead, we have white ones. The color ends up very nice, with all sorts of reds, and there are some pretty far-fetched ornaments, some with some pretty detailed scenes.

Unfortunately, it is never photogenic.
