I don't how many other cities, towns have this program but tomorrow will mark my 3rd "Shop with a Cop!" We start collecting funds 1 Nov. each year, private citizens, business', corperations etc. donate money, then on 12 Decemeber of each year, we take that money to Wal Mart and buy the less unfortunate kids in town a $100 Wal Mart Gift Card and take 'em SHOPPING!

We spend 2 weeks sifting through MOUNTAINS of applications (500+ this year), picking out who we think are the most deserving! Being in law enforcement, you get the know the most needy and then there are those who are scamming the system!

It's a GREAT time for all....plus maybe, JUST maybe, we'll make a great impression on the kids and show 'em "We're NOT all bad!"

It IS the MOST awesome experience I've EVER had...as I said, this was my 3rd year and this years shopping experience was BEYOND awesome!

Shop with a Cop was GREAT! I had the MOST thankful single mother (and HOTTER than HADES TOO, "SHHHHH, don't tell Michelle! ) of 2 little boys (6 and 7) she was crying the whole time thanking me!! And the boys when they checked out ran up and gave me a hug (dam near made ME cry!) There's times I dislike my job because of the bad apples but it's times like this that make the whole year worth it!

They do the same thing here. I bet it feels so good for everyone involved.
