Ike Turner, Musician, Dies at 76

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Ike Turner, whose role as one of rock's critical architects was overshadowed by his ogrelike image as the man who brutally abused former wife Tina Turner, died Wednesday at his home in suburban San Diego. He was 76.

Turner died at his San Marcos home, Scott M. Hanover of Thrill Entertainment Group, which managed Turner's career, told The Associated Press.

There was no immediate word on the cause of death, which was first reported by celebrity Web site TMZ.com

i must be living under a rock, i never even heard of him

but its still sad nonetheless.

Very sad. He was from a very musically talented generation who produced some of the best music that still influences the music around today. Although I hope he will be remembered more for his music and not whatever happened between him and Tina and his drug problems. That was a LONG TIME AGO, I would hope that he and Tina made their peace with the past before he passed away. Forgivness leads to happiness.
