I remember. It was a new pair of Krystal skis, bindings, boots and poles. I was 12 years old. It was Christmas 1963. We were stationed at Elmendorf in Alaska.

"ELMENDORF?" My God man, I haven't thought about THAT place since I flew in and out of there on a MAC flight to NAVSTA Adak Alaska back in 1976  Thanks for the memories :ggreen:

SO...did you get the skis? Another favorite toy was a "Hot Wheel Racing Set"...remember those orange tracks? Geeesh, the fun we had with those toys, dam sure weren't ANY video games, computers for us...it was Hot Wheels, Matchbox Cars, Tonka Trucks and anything we could use with our imaginations!

"36 Inch Walking Doll" I was 7 and I have no idea what the doll was actually called. I just remember screaming and jumping up and down and yelling, " A 36" walking doll! A 36" walking doll!" You held one of its arm up and sort of rocked the doll and it's legs would swing back and forth. You could actually make it "walk", if you had the patience of Job. But, I could dress it in my clothes and it was as cool as a Red Rider BB Gun to me :-)

Ahhhhh...to be a 7 year old child again !!!!

Actually I lived at Elmendorf/Ft Rich twice. First time as a kid '63-'67. My father was with the 11th weather squadron. And later ('72) as an ambulatory patient. 11B/51M. I took my discharge at Ft Rich and did not return to CONUS until 1987. My father used to jokingly say my debriefing took 15 years!
