The past week has been so horrible here in New Smyrna Beach with Red Tide. I live 2 blocks from the beach and you go outside and start coughing and some sneezing too. UGGGGG!!

Alot of the locals around here say that it hasnt been this bad here in like 25 years. I always heard of it as a gulf coast thing

Does anyone know what really causes it and have any of yall dealt with it this past week????? BTW some restaurants down the road on SR 44 had signs out for a drink special "red tide tinis" LOL!

its an algae bloom, quite common in Florida, kills all sea creatures it comes in contact with. Can really stink up the beaches and cause respiratory problems for miles.

Red tide is toxic to living creatures, including humans.

When I was in Daytona Beach for my honeymoon in early October, I was having a lot respiratory problems due to Red Tide. It was awful.. I don't think I'd ever coughed so much in my life.

Yuck!
My first ever trip to the Gulf Coast was during a Red Tide. Nasty stuff..
I'm currently at Panama City Beach in a gulf front condo. No signs of it here for now (thankfully).
