I had heard they were allowed to drink alcohol at that station. Found it surprising. On the north slope of Alaska in Prudhoe Bay, 300 miles above the Arctic circle......alcohol is not allowed. You cannot enough sneak a pint into your luggage. Your luggage (gear) is checked in the night before departure/change out of crews.

Fighting in Prudhoe is handled easily. All persons fighting are fired. Even if in self defense. You throw a punch and your gone.

That seems a bit silly, so if soemone starts on you, you just have to let them hit you? 0_o.

It's not "silly" at all. It prevents fights. Some guy hits you.....you turn the other cheek. He loses a very high paying job and you get to stay.

That and the company has no desire to set up a quasi-judicial system to determine who was at fault.

The Alyeska Pipeline Service Company manages a consortium of 7 oil companies that own the Trans-Alaska pipeline. BP holds the biggie....51%.

Different oil companies handle violence at camps with different methods. I worked for ARCO special projects......subsidence team. Arco was very strict. There are incidents within different companies that simply do not report fights/crimes unless the Alaska State Troopers have to visit.

For those of you not familiar with Prudhoe Bay.....the pay is unusually high. Skilled pipeline help enjoy Prudhoe for this reason. The climate is harsh in the winter. Summers are beautiful.

When a worker quits or gets fired or gets hurt......there are dozens of applicants just waiting for the call.
