I attended the uda national college dance team championships this past weekend in orlando. After getting to the lafayette airport at 5am thursday morning after a night of no sleep we find out our flight to atlanta is cancelled. Ok...so panic mode sets in when delta tells us they can't get us on another flight for 2-3 days and we don't get a refund either. I should have stayed home at this point. Delta got us on an american flight out of new orleans 12:45pm (which is when we should have originally landed in orlando)that day. So we hop in my car and head to new orleans and make the flight.

My husband and son leave friday. Hubby gets to orlando and is in severe pain. He'd had a root canal a week and a half ago. The altitude made it hurt really really bad. After getting his dentist to call in prescription and picking it up ($40/cab ride), the painkiller didn't work. At 2am we're on the phone looking for a dentist. The "24 hour" dentists didn't answer. He finally falls asleep and is woken up by cheerleaders doing full out cheers in the courtyard right below our rooms. He rested that day and called me while i was at one of the parks and said he got an appointment with a dentist. Oh what a dentist that was! Right next to a tattoo/body piercing shop!!!!!! The dentists assistant was his teenage son and his wife and daughter were eating dinner while he was working on hubby. His root canal was infected and cost us $550. Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

I leave orlando. I'm traveling with another mom. We try the kiosk checkin. It told me my check-in didn't go thru, please see an agent. Why????? Why????? I'm the lucky one that has to have the detailed check-in...body patdown and all!

We boarded our 3 dogs. Boarding not bad, only $48. What killed us was they were due for their shots. Another $600.

I swear i'm not going on another trip for a long, long, long, long, long, long time! (after this i don't think i can afford to!)

I guess that the more you travel, the more likely your odds are having a BAD travel experience. Your poor hubby!

I'm glad you're back safe and "somewhat" sound now.

Ouch! I wonder if boarding animals is a sneaky way to make a lot of extra money on shots and stuff. Hmm. Sounds like a racket to me. Was it your regular vet? If not, ask your vet if all those shots were really needed or just a money making ploy. also ask if the prices were competitive.

It was their regular vet and their yearly shots. It was all legit. I just usually stagger them and not get them all done at once.
