Survivor 16: Micronesia, aka Fans vs Favorites, premieres Thursday, February 7th. If you're a fan of Survivor, feel free to discuss the show on this topic.

Meet the players:

My favorite is Ozzy, so I'll be pulling for him but you gotta love snake Jonny Fairplay. He's hilarious!

I wont be able to watch the season premiere as I am taking my wife out to see Brian Regan. I hope to be able to record it, if our VCR is still working. I know, surprised because we use a VCR and not a TIVO or a DVR. Will pick up the action the next week though.

I'm not enthused about the idea of inviting old players back... again. The idea is getting old now.

tomboudreau - we still have 2 VCR's but mainly record with a DVR. I use the VCR's as backups, and guess what, we would have missed the last Survivor's reunion show had I not taped it on a VCR (DVR froze)!

Even though there's a cast of favorites I'm still exciting about this Survivor. Especially Ozzy! What a player he was.......similar to Bobby Jon and Tom.

Wow! I could never have predicted Micronesia's premiere episode to go that way! Don't want to say too much until others have watched it. But we keep saying - we can't believe that just happened.......I'm even taping this morning's Today Show segment, I just NEED to see it to believe what we saw go down last night. Not earth shattering, but completely the opposite of what we expected.

absolutely, i think he went down without fighting this time. Once bitten twice shy as the saying goes. No one was sure whether to believe him or not. Thats the problem with lying to people, one never knows when you are really crying "wolf" in real. Once you lie once, and are caught, people will tend not to believe anything else you tell them.
All the same, he was very gracious about the whole thing.

i enjoyed the show.

I don't know, I thought it was kind of a yawner. The ending was completely predictable despite the producers' attempt to trick us mid-episode with talk of alliances and deceit. :)

I have to admit despite criticising it I've just watched the first episode. Okay, fans won the challenge, no big deal. As Jonathan (I think?) said, the fans had the heart.

What transpired post-challenge was something totally off-kilter. Out of left field with the unanimous vote at tribal, too.

Ok, did he just "lie" his way off the show or did he really want to go?

I thought it was a trick in order to vote off one of the Yau-man-Cirie alliance --- and it just backfired on him.

Well Yau Man had the idol so he was safe...

I don't really know what his thinking was, it was very bizarre.

Oh and Parvati and romance... :18:

Hey all - remember Jonny Fairplay was on the season with the cast-off tribe. Lil was voted off, came back and look how far she got! Final two.....I highly doubt the producers of Survivor would bring back this cast-off competition but stranger things have happened. I do know that many fans are VERY disappointed he chose to in a sense, ask that to be voted off. I want to shake that boy silly today and ask - Jon, are ya thinkin' straight here? It seemed as if he had another plan and we'd only seen 2 Jonny Fairplay votes but after I saw Jeff read 3 votes, my heart sunk for him. We knew he'd have 2....

His exit just took the wind of our sails........

I thought I heard Johnny tell Pavati that if he told everyone he wanted to go home it would be a great ploy.
Eliza, Yau-man, Jonathan and Ami would vote off Johnny thinking he wanted to go home and then Ozzy, James, Amanda, Pavati and Johnny would vote off Eliza????? Maybe I'm hearing things!!!!!

Karan - no you were not hearing things. I heard that too. I think Jon expected 5 votes for Eliza and 4 for himself. But as talk went on at tribal, Jonathan point blank told Jeff Probst that "Jonny Fairplay is asking us to vote him out tonight." Or words to that effect. I think when Jonathan said that, it sent a message. And perhaps up until then, the other 4, the original 5 Eliza votes of which Jon was part of, were going to vote for Eliza but changed their minds?

All I know is the first episode of each season isn't usually this good. You're still trying to remember names and find your "favorite". At least I am. And I always wish they'd start each season with a 2 hour premiere, 1 is too short.

But THIS season premiere was a shocker!

I'm still sad he's gone....

I thought that too, which is why I was shocked when the later votes came in, then later after I thought about what was said at TC, I realized it wasn't a ploy anymore.

Come on, you know the producers do everything they can with the film they get to try to fool the viewer. IMHO, it was blatantly obvious that everyone would vote for Jonny, as they all clearly despised him.

I too was very surprised. Because when it looks like the vote will definitely go one way, it often times doesn't go that way. That is precisely why I didn't think Fairplay was being voted out! It was just way too obvious to trust........so in the end the editing and producers tricked this fan and apparently, many other fans!

Shows that TV Guide is recommending for tonight, Survivor is one of a handful. Also the recently voted off Survivor is usually interviewed, with this interview up by the following episode. I can't find one, which means did Fairplay turn one down? It would have been good too! I'll keep watching for one.....dang!

Jonathan summed up the reason the fans won the immunity challenge last week when he said, "They just had more heart out there." But the tide may turn tonight. Turmoil invades the fans' camp as three of its members are kicked out of the shelter, while Amanda and Ozzy steam up the favorites' beach with some passionate kissing. Unfortunately, Jonny Fairplay isn't around to comment on it after asking to be voted out last week. What was he thinking? Also, the tribes learn that a person from each team will be sent to Exile Island together and that an immunity idol is hidden there. — Tim Holland
